Yes to Crawford coming back. No to Fredette.
Crawford's most impressive contribution of the season has been replacing Booker's scoring, especially
with many of our other rotation guys out. The void was there and Crawford really stepped up!

Final:

Mavericks 120 - Suns 109

What a great game for Crawford and a good send off for Dirk.

Dirk scores 30 points.

It's amazing how well liked and respected he is throughout the league. It would be great if we had a place for him next year, in some role.

I'd like for the Suns to find a place for Crawford. He has been a mentor and leader for the Suns this season. Some players are supposed to fill this role. Crawford did.

Crawford is the oldest player in NBA history to score 51 points.

Wow, what has he ever done to you??

You don't think at this stage of his life he's better suited for a non-playing role? It was his worst season since his rookie year and given that he's 39, I wouldn't expect his decline to stop or turnaround. He's still capable of a good game now and then but all told he's been a liability most nights.

i think you missed the joke there... as in, he wouldn't wish a job in the Suns FO on anybody, type of thing... you know... for fear that he might come back to find it covered in kangaroo crap or whatever whimsy strikes Sarver that day to try and motivate.

Crawford played like this was his last game. Amazing to watch some of the shots he pulls up and hits. On a side note it was nice that Jimmer figured out that he needed to get out of the way this time.

If I'm Crawford I'd retire after this game, a historical performance in a final game, it would be brought up for decades when guys are racking up points in their last outting. While, if he comes back and has another lousy season, it will be completely forgotten. Unless he's broke... in which case if I'm him I'd keep playing as long as someone would pay me.

I agree. It looks like he does to. He could definitely go more if he wanted though.

The difference between Crawford and Dirk is that on occasion Crawford will heat up and can help a team out. Dirk just doesn't have any gas left in the tank.

If I were Crawford, I'd look to play another year.

Yes. Crawford has gas left in the tank. I'd like to have him back as a player if it works.

I don't. I'd be okay if he was brought back as a veteran presence, deeply entrenched on the bench and available in emergency situations and blowouts but I don't want to see him in the rotation anymore. He's not been anywhere close to a positive player for us despite his wonderful night against the Mavericks.

He's purely an offensive player and his ever declining PER of 11.7 suggests he has little left. PER does miss some value on the defensive side but Crawford's strength shows up in the counting stats which are well represented in that rating. He seems to be a great guy and I think we are better off with him in the fold but we have to have better backups next season if we want to start winning.

I don't see any disagreement here. The Suns could do much worse than Crawford as a deep bench player. I never mentioned he should be a rotation player.
