I trust Gadd over Sheridan here.

Ive been told the same thing that Sheridan reported before the KT deal went down. No idea what the next move is, but it was laid out to me that they were cutting salary but that they did it to get flexibility in order to make another move and that the end net result "definitely made the team better".

Take it for what its worth, but I would wait until the season starts before making judgements.

Our addition is going to be taking the wrapper off Sean Marks!

just wait to see what he can do this year when he'll play MORE than 17 minutes!!! oh, and by the way, your first round pick in 2008 is . . . AMARE! and your first round pick in 2010 is . . . AMARE!

According to Kerr, the team's first call was to P.J. Brown. That seems like a lateral move at best.

I hope you're right, obviously.

I love your optimism(that Amare will be on the team in 2010).

It is a lateral move talent wise but financial wise it helps with the cap I guess. I would like to get Ely in addition to Brown to have a 2 deep frontcourt that can be productive.

:D

Aww Good ol' D'Antoni.

Amare becomes less of a great pick when you realize it cost us all our picks from 2005 - 2010 in hindsight. ;)

Suns not going for title

This is my first post on this site but I had to chime in. By way of introduction, I am:

A Suns Season-ticket holder
AZ Native
Lifelong Suns Fan

I listened to the Kerr interview after the KT trade and combining that with multiple other interviews that I have heard from Sarver I am 100% in agreement with Gadd that this suns FO is not going to pay a large amount above the LT to win a title. Sarver's pet phase and one which is repeated by every Suns employee in every interview is "long-term sustained success". They know that as long as Nash is here that they will win 55-63 games and go to the 2nd or 3rd round of the playoffs every year. They hope that one of those years they will get lucky and win it. They know that as long as they are exciting, people will watch them and they will make money. But they WILL NOT spend over the LT for a role player, even if it would help there chances at a title.

Welcome aboard. BTW, we got your message the first time. :D

The issue is what do they mean by "substantially above the LT"?

From all indications, the Suns were willing to stay above the LT line if it meant getting Garnett; but not for Kurt Thomas. Clearly they think they can replace what he does for less money. I sure hope they are right.

I doubt it but they might use that exception to acquire a player at the deadline. If it becomes obvious that there is a specific need and the right player is available they'd only have to pay half his salary.

Okay now. Everybody get back on the Sarver bandwagon.

Seriously I don't know what the Suns are doing whether it be for this year or next, but I seriously think they have something in mind beyond saving money. Anyway, this is my hope.

However, while everyone is down on Sarver aren't the Suns one of the few teams in the league paying the LT? Perhaps they are just trying to stabilize the ship for the future. The Suns may be acting like the Bidwill's Cardinals but they are not playing like them... at least not yet. I'm still in a wait and see mode.

You were the guy who got a pile of horse dung Christmas day......
....then jumped in it shouting for joy that there had to be a pony in there somewhere.

Wash the dung off....there isn't any pony. A commentator was hired as GM for the sole reason that he had the guts to cut costs (while other GM candidates would have wanted to try and build a winner).

Optimism is fine...but how many times must you see the Suns sell a draft pick for cash before you realize that dung is dung....and all the wishing in the world won't turn it into a pony?

Why exactly then are you still in this pile with us?
