I agree that Blanks is probably the real problem. What Babby was hired to do, he has done quite well. Just about every bad contract is gone, he turned Nash into a couple of decent picks, and the Suns are in a very good position as far as cap space is concerned.

Talent evaluation is way off though, and my understanding is that Blanks is in charge of that.

Babby himself was a huge leap of faith. A player agent with no front office NBA experience instantly becoming the head and mouthpiece of an entire organization--and not just ANY organization--one that has a pretty diverse legacy, probably the biggest you can have while not winning a title.

Ironically, the guy I think is the real problem (Blanks) is the one with the MOST experience out of everybody!

OK...so Sarver is 1 for 3 in leap of faith moves. I am personally not that high on Babby either but Blanks and Hunter....oh my. Even with the Blanks hire many people questioned that hire even though he had more experience. The Cavs didn't care they lost the guy.

Show me a team that continues to hire this way and I will show you a team destined to be bottom feeders.

Really, as far as hires go, the only thing he could be to blame for is hiring Babby. As much as we dislike Sarver, I think Babby made the horrible decision of hiring Blanks and the two of them (Babby & Blanks) hired Hunter. With Sarver's ok, I'd imagine, but I doubt the idea for the hires came from Sarver himself.

I think you are letting Sarver off the hook here and I don't think anybody is saying Sarver does it all himself. However, one of two things happens. Either bigger name GM's and FO guys don't want to work for Sarver or he is limiting his pool because of the money he wants to spend. Also, let's not forget Sarver's grand announcement about taking a business approach to his FO versus hiring traditional basketball guys.

Ok, fine, but what exactly are you saying? That Sarver hired Blanks and made the decision to hire/promote Hunter? I completely disagree with that assertion as there is no evidence whatsoever that it happened that way. Of course, there is no evidence that it DIDN'T, either, except for not knowing either way.

At the very least he signed off on it. Also, again, I never said Sarver did the hiring. Sarver sets the tone and direction for how this franchise does business. All history points to Sarver being very involved in most decisions. Listen to this guys interviews on KTAR. There is zero doubt he is very involved in every decision.

You can't run a franchise with these types of hiring practices.

Did the Suns do a background check on Hunter before naming him head coach?

Wow... what a mess. It's being suggested that Blanks knew about this issue with Hunter when he hired him.

Also, O'Neal apparently got into an expletive-laden shouting match with Blanks yesterday. The Suns are now saying O'Neal isn't making the coming road trip. Hmmmm...

I. Can't. Believe. Just. How. Badly. Sarver. Has. Screwed. This. Up. :bang:
