Yay!!!!! Suns win 118-109. :) Great win Suns. :)

Suns trailed by as many as 15 points in the 4th quarter.

Finally found an opponent we can beat, part 2 (part 1 was Cleveland). Of course it required the Suns erasing a 15-point 4th quarter deficit and going into overtime at home. But a win is a win, as they say. And of course, if the Suns are to turn this thing around, it will take nights like these.

Almost every Suns player had some good moments in this game, but the game ball should be shared by Nash, Carter, Dudley, Dragic and Frye. Nash shot the ball poorly, but kept dishing the ball for assists and made some big plays down the stretch. He was also 11/11 from the FT line. Carter started the game off well, hit four threes, and had a big offensive rebound for a put-back late in the game. Dudley was key in carrying the scoring load when no one else could score. Dragic came up with a few big defensive plays. And Frye, despite turning the ball when he had a chance to win the game in regulation, finished with 21/7.

The Suns played hard and with some energy over the last 15 minutes or so. Will this carry over? Probably not.

If nothing else we have clearly proven that we can beat the worst teams the East has to offer, if we're playing at home, and only with considerable effort.

I know everyone wants us to lose to these teams to improve our draft position, but a win against any team that has Sasha Vujacic on it is a good win, IMO.

Man, I went to the last Suns/Portland game a couple weeks back. Had good free seats, free beers, and it was still depressing. Portland is one of the most boring teams in the league to watch, and they just manhandled us. Couple that with the constant reminders of where we were last year, (hell, the last 7-8 years) and what we're looking at, and I hope you plan on having a couple drinks. Probably the only way to make things tolerable.

Do the Suns think they can make the playoffs if they lose against all winning teams but beat the crapiest teams in the NBA?

Seriously?

Unless they think they have a legit chance, they should be tanking.

I think I agree. What is the point if we beat sub .500 team but clearly don't match up with good to great teams? If the Suns are satisfied with trying to sneak into the 8th spot when we would just get bounced....something is seriously wrong with the front office. Wait...we already knew that.

Shut the he'll up you losers! They are not even half way through the season and are not going to tank it. If you don't like it don't watch this team has not even been given enough time to come together since a huge trade. Shoot even the heat with the best player in the world took time to come together! If you don't like it don't watch but to trade nash for nothing is beyond stupid no one is giving up anything worth trading him for geesh.

Sucks that we hurt our lottery pick with an overtime win against one of the worst teams in the league.

Usually you would be happy about an overtime win, but damn we were so close to losing. :(

Your are missing one huge thing in your point above.

The Heat struggled to gel but even then they were not the worst defensive team in the NBA. They didn't have the worst starting center in the NBA. They didn't rank dead last in points in the paint. They have a good defensive philosophy and we don't.

You can say what you want about chemistry but even if they gel it won't solve all those issues which will lead us to a dead end.

The Nash era is over whether you want to admit it or not. The window has closed barring another mega trade. Nash has ZERO chance of getting a title here at this stage of his career. I want Nash to get a chance at a ring. For Nash's sake I hope he gets traded to a contender. I want Nash to go out on a good note not go down with the sinking ship that is the Suns.

It's all well and good to hope Nash gets a chance at a ring. But I'm not willing to give him that chance at our expense. And I'm sure the Suns aren't either. It simply isn't good business. If we trade Nash, we're going to demand more than a late-first draft pick and a bad contract. That's just the reality.

The problem with trading Nash to a contender is that contenders have nothing to offer to the Suns.

uh, but what does Nash have to offer the team at this point? The difference between winning 5 and 10 more games this season? I love nash, but on this team, he's really not all that valuable to us. we're BARELY beating the absolute dregs of the league AT HOME. I just don't see what we'd missing by trading him... really, by keeping him, all i see is us missing out on more lotto balls which which we're headed for anyway with him on the team.

That indeed might be the reality of it. However, I would take a late first rounder and a possible young player for Nash. It is not ideal but your not going to get a star in return for Nash even if he is not traded to a contender. Your probably going to get someone with a bloated contract or mid level player that wouldn't change the outcome of your team anyway.

I don't see how letting Steve finish out his contract is good business either. This team is struggling with him. You won't get any free agents wanting to come here, it won't improve your draft position and won't do anything for ticket sales. None of that says good business either.

Nothing to gain by keeping Nash, nothing. All we're going to do is wear the guy out then we'll have to play without him on a timetable that is out of our hands and with zero compensation. I think preparing for his absence AND getting something of value (anything of value) is better than the alternative. BTW, the wearing out of Nash - I think that will happen sooner rather than later.

Your contributions are invaluable to this board. I, for one, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

That's not the point. It's a no-brainer that Nash is easily our most valuable player, business-wise and on the court. It probably doesn't make anyone happy, but it is what it is. You trade him for nothing and then we'll have no trade assets at all and nothing good to move forward with. Let alone the money lost because he's no longer on the team, that now has no leader and no direction.

The point of a Nash trade is to receive something, anything that can help with the future--because like I said, once he's gone, we'll have nothing left to leverage. Perhaps Dudley, but right now he is quite possibly the only guy we should not trade under any circumstances.
