i just took a look at both teams remaining schedules, the degree of difficulty between them is pretty dramatic. dallas has only 1 major eastern roadswing left and has knocked out many of the big western conf. games, take a look yourself.

in a best case scenario, i can see the suns winning 64 or 65 games, while the mavs look to be heading for 67 or 68. all this of course says injuries don't happen, which of course they do...

but the implication of this is that we'll have time towards the end of the season to rest our guys. they way this thing is going, we'll have a big margin between the 2 and 3 seed, and we're not catching 1, so guys don't have to kill themselves at the end. of course this means SA in rd 2 too :(

Am I the only one who's starting to think that playing San Antonio in the second round and having Dallas play the Lakers might not be a bad thing? The Lakers could possibly upset Dallas, and the Spurs, if they don't make a trade, might just be too slow to be able to beat the Suns anymore.

You can't just look at the schedule and determine that. So many things happen in the course of the season. What if your main guy tweaks an ankle and sits for few etc... It's still a long season to go and there is lots of basketball to be played. To say one team can't be caught or another team won't cool down is not realistic.

Mavs lose to bad teams far more than the Suns. They were extremely lucky to beat Toronto, they lead for a whole 2 posessions the entire game. I don't really care who the Mavs play they are capable of losing every game.

I seem to recall us being down with less than a minute to go against the Raptors. And we weren't exactly lights out against Portland last night. The Mavs are a really good team, easily the only team in the NBA you can make an argument is playing better than the Suns. They have beaten us twice (one without Josh Howard, the other without Jerry Stackhouse) and have the superior record against a tougher schedule. Not saying the Suns can't beat them in a series or catch up to them in the standings, but let's give credit where credit is due.

Just like the Suns, the Mavs are one key players rolled ankle away from losing a batch of games. Its very silly to say, at this point in the season, that a team that is one game behind another won't be able to catch up.

First game was at the start of the season, was Amare's 2nd game starting and was back to back after we played AT San Antonio the day before and played Dallas in Phoenix the next. Second game they beat us on a last posession game winner.

Hardly anything to brag about..

Dirk has bionic ankles. . did you see the ankle twist versus Seattle. . . and he didn't even miss a game!! But your point is taken.

Didn'y you guys beat Toronto by 3 or 4? And beat the Blazers by 5 at home on rest? Gimmie a break man, you win the games you win and you lose the games you lose. . .

Um, wasn't the first game the begining of the season for us too?

And nothing to brag about? I'd say you can "brag" about two wins against the second best team in the west (record wise), I'd say that's something to brag about.

You more so than anyone else here are cocky and arrogant. Everyone else is pretty humble an level headed.

What is this, troll week?

Anyway, the Suns have already caught the Mavs in the loss column, which is the important column. And I can promise you, neither team will finish 74-8.

Remember, it wasn't too long ago that everybody was handing the Spurs the #1 seed.

At the same time you can easily argue that Josh Howard's DNP cancels out Amare's rustiness. And the second game they still won despite having to play Devean George a lot of minutes instead of Jerry Stackhouse. Stop being such a homer, the Mavs have had the better season so far.

Yeah gimme a break, the Suns were still cruising to Ws in those games, it's not like they were outplayed and lucked out with a Win, the Mavs against Toronto won on pure luck and ineptitude by the Raptors.

There's no excuse for you to come to this board and insult Suns fans. There are plenty of (more or less) appropriate places for you to do that--like your usual haunts, DB.com and ISH--and my guess is that even you can understand the distinction between those places and this one.

If any sign of "disrespect" is going to send you into paroxysms, you need to stop coming here.

Unless the Mavs have a significant injury, I don't think anyone can beat them in a series, especially if they have home court advantage.

I, as anyone would, feel disrespected when I feel my team is getting slighted

For what possible reason? People can bad-mouth the Suns all they want and it won't rile me up, as long as the logic is sound. Bad logic, on the other hand, offends me no matter what the context.

Why wouldn't I come on this board? The Suns are the Mavericks chief competition.

I just think we are far superior to you guys as our best player is better than your best player (arguably) and our second and third players are better than your second and third (inarguably) I also like our coach better.

I see that Last Mavs win as an aberration because the Suns were uncharacteristically sloppy at the end of that game and it was in Dallas. I say we win by 7+ when you come to Phoenix.

I will give credit where its due though - The Mavs have been playing VERY well and are pretty much the only reason we are not running away with the damn thing. I also like that they can play pretty much any style of ball much like us and have the superior depth.

How -ev-ah (Stephen A. Smith voice)....I don't see my favorite columnist Bill Simmons writing any greatest team articles on those same Mavs. I completly agree that as long as we maintain focus we can be an all time great team. And you have to watch the games and the ways in which we win to really understand that. We really do look like the Showtime Lakers out there....

I respect Dallas but i absolutley loathe everything about them. Fortunately i see that the country on a whole has began to look at them as the antagonist to our hero role as well.

I look forward to getting you guys in the playoffs Greensboro. And you are welcome here anytime. Just make sure you are here after we kick your a$$ too......;)

Exactly why Dirk was MVP last year and should be MVP this year. And we shall see what happens next game. . . next game is in Dallas March 14. . . long ways away. . . I dunno 'bout you guys, but I wanna play the next 41 games all against the Suns and see what happens!!

I try. . . I, as anyone would, feel disrespected when I feel my team is getting slighted. . . so I'll quick post b4 reading everything in the thread.

Greensbourgh, I diagnos you with the following internet conditions
Premature Postulation
Degeneration of the Basketball Mind
General Trollism
Muscle cramps in the wrists

and

I also think you are an angina for feeling "disrepected" on a Suns board.
