I've heard people blame the shoes for that. Both Ayton and Bagley signed with Puma, who just got back into making basketball shoes again. There were some issues getting his size right since he wears a size 18. He wore Nike's in preseason, not sure if he's changed yet but I would imagine so. I read a few articles of pundits bashing the design of the Puma shoes, saying they'lre going to kill Ayton and Bagley's ankles quickly. I really hope that isn't the case but who knows. I haven't see any complaints by Ayton or Bagley though.
Hopefully they're able to get his shoes right and they get him some quality footwear. They hadn't signed any basketball players in a very long time so it's questionable, even if it's unlikely they hurt him at all.
Here is one article about Ayton wearing Nike's in preseason with tape over the logos. It talks more about the Puma deal.
