For those who did not get to see the game, I wrote a little recap of it at scorchingsuns.com
The Phoenix Suns have been one of the most surprising teams thus far this year. Their now 15-10 coming off a come from behind victory over the Nuggets in Denver. Markieff Morris led the team in points for the 5th time this year with 25, including the game icing free throw late.
The Suns got off to a rough start and trailed 62-48 at the half, with a poor effort defensively, but they only allowed 37 points in the 2nd half as Denver finished with 99 points. The Nuggets did have 6 players who scored in double figures, but their leading scorer Wilson Chandler only scored 15.
The Suns got good production off the bench from Gerald Green and the Morris twins. Green, who hasn’t been playing as much recently, played 28 minutes and scored 19 points for a nice punch off the bench. They certainly needed their bench to step up, as two starters P.J Tucker and Channing Frye went 2-14 from the field with a combined 5 points.
The “Slash Brothers” as they are called, Eric Bledsoe and Goran Dragic, were relatively contained by Denver as Bledsoe had 10 points and Dragic had 17.
The Suns big push was in the 4th quarter, out scoring the Nuggets 31 to 17 to get the win. Randy Foye had a chance to tie it with a three with under under 10 seconds left, but he missed that iced the Suns 6 win in 7 games. Head coach Jeff Hornacek has done a great job so far with this unit, who will look to keep it up in their next game tomorrow at home vs. Dallas.
