We are going to be stuck at 30-40 wins no matter what we get for KD because nobody is going to break the bank for a 37 year old looking for a huge extension.

If I am honest if we get Mikal back for me that probably is enough to make me continue to watch, so I actually think I would prefer that deal.
nah - some playoff team will get close this year and feel they are one slim reaper away from winning it all - dude is still on top of his game

Let's hope so. Hoping for the best for KD. Nothing against him, but this team we had this year just did not work. Again, swapping in some youth, size, and athleticism should help. I hope that will happen regardless of who stays. We have to get rid of some Fat Allen types.

Exactly what I’m afraid of.

I’d much rather see them try to trade him to Miami, get back Wiggins, and a couple first rounders in 2028-2031 once KD’s gone. Then hopefully flip Wiggins for a first to a contender looking for a good SF.

They have to get draft picks back in whatever KD trade is made. A team based around Booker/Bridges barely wins 30 games, IMO. And with Bridges’ deal up, we’re likely to wildly overpay him same way we’re going to Booker, hamstringing us to add anyone else of note to that painfully mediocre (at best) twosome.

Well, the truth is there is just not much he could really say.

I don't really buy the we are going to set a culture of hustle and tough nosed defense. This is the NBA where all the players make millions and don't take kindly to being bossed around. It sorta sounds good but with the possible exception of Miami - is there any team that really has a culture like that in the NBA?
Memphis. Celtics.

I didn't think he was ranting. Rambling maybe. He talks so damn fast. He doesn't take a breathe. He said some interesting things. He indicated there was much more to letting Bud go. Sounds like yet again there was a communication issues. What is interesting is unprompted he brought up communicating with assistants was important. Interesting. He also said maybe he should have fired Bud sooner.

It also sounds like this roster is getting purged for sure. He talked about improving the front office, scouts, getting a coach who communicates that doesn't mean going after a championship coach. The most disappointing part is it sure sounds like James Jones isn't going anywhere. He said he wasn't as harsh on the front office as people Monday morning quarterbacking.

Another thing he said is he doesn't evaluate players to decide if they fit the identity if they are tough enough etc. He said that's what the staff does and he doesn't do that as an owner.

He basically called Beal's NTC "over hyped". He said if someone is not the type of player that fits they won't be here.
That sounds like personnel decisions have been jones.

Well at least Jones admitted what was wrong with the team yesterday, specifically defensively. That KD and Book weren't given enough defensive help. We'll see how that manifests itself for next season.
Which is sort of a joke because both were just as bad at defense as the rest of the team.

By all reports, we won't send Durant anywhere he doesn't want to go and I cannot imagine that Durant would have even the slightest in the Hawks.

Potential Durant landing spots are limited to teams that have very near term contention and (more importantly) the actual ability to trade for him, IE even if the Celtics wanted him, the 2nd apron makes it utterly impossible.

Being generous, I'd say the list is: Cavs, Knicks, Rockets, Wolves, Grizzlies, Mavs and, maybe, the Magic.

We all gotta pray for the Rockets to get demolished by the Warriors. If not the Rockets then I'd root for the Mavs, because their front office is insanely stupid, future picks from them are solid gold.

kd wants to go to a contender - it's that simple - if you want valuable draft picks for kevin durant you have to find a contender that has acquired valuable draft picks - how many teams left in the playoffs have (likely) lottery picks within the 3 years?

that's where you start

okc or houston might be the only teams (with draft picks) that kd would consider

OKC will not take Durant back. He left in a questionable fashion and they have zero reason to add someone like him to their core. It's more likely Brooklyn deals for him than OKC as Brooklyn has less to lose.
