Can't you include up to $100,000 cash along with the trade exception..

Also, the salaries should only have to come within 25% of each other to match.

I was thinking the same thing before I accidently deleted the post I was writing. However, I didn't know if it applied to the TE.

Damon Jones is being paid starter salary. He may be a problem to come to the suns and be a bench player.
I really do not think he is going to be a sun. However, it could be a 3 team trade I guess with the suns ending up with Gooden.......?

Hey, I bet the Suns are willing to take Jones from Cleveland so they can get Luke Jackson, so sunsfn and the Gcracker are happy about finally getting him........right F-dog? :D

I don't even know if this is close salary wise, but how would all of you feel if the Suns did a sign and trade with Barbosa and sent him to CLE as well.

Thomas
Barbosa

For

Jones
Gooden

Thomas for Gooden I'd have no problem with. Barbosa for Jones would be the issue. I have a feeling that something very similar to the scenerio above would have to happen if the Suns were truly interested in Gooden, as he want's a bigger contract. Can any of you numbers guys figure this one out for me? :)

Damon Jones has fans here?

Probably more than he has with the Cavs fanbase, their nickname for him last year was Amon Ones. I'd be pretty disappointed if the Suns traded for him.

i hardly consider averaging $4mil over the next 3 years "starters money", when we were offering Salmons almost $5mil per year, and will be resigning Barbosa to even more when the time comes.

Well, the Suns do need a backup PG, so Luke could fill that role...but only if Orlando turns down Atlanta's pick for Travis Diener. ;)

I would feel like the Suns had given up on competing for a title next season.

The Suns need to build their guard depth, not strip it away. Damon Jones isn't a tolerable third guard and not an ideal fourth guard, either--he's Eddie House in a fur coat.

I agree with you. I just wanted to hear a few other opinions. I'd love Gooden on this team, but definitely not at the expense of Barbosa.

I would look at Marcus banks myself. There's also a backup center out there whom they had shown interest in a couple years ago.

What about at the expense of James Jones?

KT + JJ for Drew Gooden and Damon Jones

This would allow them to get closer in terms of salary. Drew Gooden would want a deal that started at a min of $6 million

Where does Diaw fit in then for next year? I would rather have Boris Diaw than Drew Gooden. We would be STACKED at forward... Amare, Marion, Diaw, Gooden, Jones.

Id rather not see Jones play during the playoffs, other than maybe 5 mins

**** damon jones. He sucks.

Dude, we need bodies, plus a guy who can shoot the three. Jones can do both, and would thrive in our system. Nash needs somebody, ANYBODY to keep him fresh and take up minutes.

Let's not help the Cavs out and trade for their blunder in Jones. That's the Knicks job.
