I don't see what the big deal is. It's a risky proposition, sure, but so what? If I could afford it (and I still lived in Phoenix), I'd still get tickets to games. Besides, most of the time the games ARE fun until the very end when we usually lose. It's an interesting marketing tactic and the only thing the front office is probably hoping for is that it doesn't turn out to be a blowout loss.

Interesting. Anyone can claim they didn't have fun and get their money back. I can't see how this will work out for the team. They will sell a lot more tickets but issue a lot of refunds, assuming there's no catch in this promotion.

But what really bothers me about that article is the notion that the outcome of the games doesn't matter as long as the fans have fun (or rather, as long as they buy tickets). This is the Chicago Cubs business model.

I guess their thinking is More Interest in the Brand = More Money = Better Players = Better Product. Misguided in today's economy, maybe, but certainly understandable.

I think it would be funny if the Suns won a close, exciting game on a controversial call, and someone asked for his money back by claiming to be a Dallas fan.

I think we're overestimating how many people will go through the process of requesting a refund. I'm going to assume that it's gonna be a big PITA and take a minimum of 6 weeks to issue.

or if someone asked for their money back because they were a suns fan, hoping the team would lose so it would bottom out, get a high lotto pick and hopefully, eventually be bad enough to force Sarver to sell.

From their site - only two requirements to qualify:

1) This completed form (Available 12/6/12)

2) Original ticket stub from the 12/6/12 Phoenix Suns vs Dallas Mavericks home game.
(Sponsor tickets and Comp tickets do not qualify)

-------------------

Go to the game then look around for the most expensive (non-sponsor or comp) ticket stub you can find after the game.

Send it in regardless of your enjoyment level.

Cha-ching !!

Hmmm...maybe not.

Assuming this means they will try to confirm that YOU purchased the ticket YOU sent in for money...

Phoenix Suns reserve the right to confirm identification. Fraudulent submissions could result in federal prosecution under US Mail fraud statutes (18 USC Sections 1341 and 1342).

Are you sure they didn't hide in the small print that the refund is only for the last four rows of the upper ring? :D

Its a stupid desperate promotion that shows more what is wrong with the team than what is right with it.

The problem with this team is ownership that won't spring for the talent in management to get the job done. I am not speaking about Babby, who I kind of like. I am talking about quality scouting and talent evaluation.

Well said! Even if it is meant to appeal to casual Suns fans. It is another example of how bush league the "suits" at the top are.

It only adds to the national perception of Phoenix as an oversized hick town. Of course, part of that is their jealousy when they have to endure everything from blizzards, hurricanes, flooding, constant rain and humid, sweltering heat to earthquakes and severe forest fires.

Do we really have to put up with the Tucson banker and his team of "yes" men because of the daily pleasures we enjoy?
