Having said all that, he needs to stop the finesse crap on offense. Make a move to the rim and throw it down. He makes some silly mistakes, but he is a rookie, so that's expected.

In time. Len has shown that he has the skills, ability, talent, size and brain to be a dominant big man in the NBA. The only things he is lacking at this point in time are some added muscle, and tenure. I can easily see him in 2-3 years develop into a massive force and perennial all star center. He has all a big man needs in order to develop into a 18-20 PPG, 10-12 RPB with 3-4 blocks per game big man.
That type of big man will put this team into Championship contention on an annual basis!

And I was going to be content with 3-1 on the road trip. 4-0 in five nights? I don't even remember Nash's Suns do that. This team just seems to have great chemistry and work ethic. They don't take a lot of plays off.

As for Dragic, he was probably auditioning to play Kobe's part in the all-star game. The audition went well.

Beyond that, he'll have to stay out of foul trouble and the team's offensive game plan would have to change quite dramatically.

If Len is getting 25 to 30 mins a game, which he should once he fully develops, yes - the offensive game plan would certainly change and we would see the ball being pushed down low way more often than we do today... which would be a HUGELY positive development!

You think? How many minutes do you see him playing 2-3 years from now??
Tim Duncan's career numbers are 20 pts, 12 rebounds and 2 blocks a game...the same numbers you are expecting from Len.

I don't think Len will be as good as Duncan. And I don't think anyone should expect him to be as good as Duncan unless they wanna end up being very disappointed.

Truthfully, I don't expect Len to have as long of a career as Duncan has had. And if he did, chances are he wouldn't equal those career stats. However, over a 5-6 year period, I can honestly see Len averaging 18 points and 10-12 boards a game...

Dang, my prediction that Len would become the best center the Suns have ever had is looking like pretty small potatoes after that. No guts, no glory, as they say.

I still like my prediction that the draft of '13 will prove to be the worst of the modern era - except for the Phoenix Suns who snagged the two best players.

From the Pacers forum:

I hope Scola turns out to be a solid player for the Pacers. IMO, it's better when both sides win in a trade. The Pacers really helped rebuild the Suns in that deal.

I'll make a exception to my philosophy when it comes to the Lakers. ;)

Yeah, those are HOF numbers.

agreed. if the guy ends up being 17/10/2, even those are pretty great numbers for a C.

but 18-20/10-12/3-4 is a little bit much to expect, IMO.

The key to averaging those numbers is consistency. Rather than hitting them one game, then disappearing the next. 17/10 every night is a hell of a lot better for a team than 25/15 one night and 9/5 the next and on and on. That is a .500 performance. Especially looking ahead to the playoffs.

Isn't that what defines a superstar, whatever his skills? It is not easy to dominate all opponents.

Time will tell if Len, or any other rookie, is one of the few to rise to fulfill his potential. Especially in Len's case considering his bad ankles. Even a great player, who is available for half of the games, is half a player.

I think averages of 14-8 with solid defense would be a really high bar to set for Len. To expect in the range of 20-12 while leading the league in blocks... other than wishful thinking there is no reason to set that kind of expectation.

From what I've seen of Len he has nice hands, which is good, and when he is engaged he has made a couple decent plays. However, his tendency to be basically invisible is troubling. More often than not so far the only sign he is in the game is that he is fouling people. There were questions about his motor in college and I certainly think they're valid at this point. Ability and health questions aside, I dont think he has the temperament to be a dominant player statistically.

I look at Len as a 14/10 type of player at his peak. Which in today's NBA would put him in the upper tier of centers.

I don't see it. If anything I think he's looks really engaged. But, similar to Goodwin, has that deer in the headlights look at times. Big men are usually 2-3 year projects. Len is pretty raw. Archie is a MASSIVE project too. I think it's going to take at least a few years to start judging this draft.

Now we'll have to just wait and see if he can reach that type of potential.

yup...and it'll probably be a solid 2 or 3 years if he ever does. I'm willing to give him that time. I like what I'm seeing in box-scores and from some of you guys so far. Still weary about those ankles, but if there's any training staff that can keep him on his feet, it's ours.
