I made a comment about this earlier today and the more I think back to last nights game (a loss no less) the more sure I become. So I am going to put my money where my mouth is.

I like this team to finish in the Top 4 of the West by the end of the season.

Where do you stand?

i think it all depends on how healthy we can stay. I'm gonna be really shocked if Hill doesn't miss 10 games at some point and we're still gonna hold Shaq out for at least another 10 games of B2B.

best case? 4 seed. more likely scenario IMO? 7 seed.

I think they finish in the bottom 4.
Seeding isn't as important as getting there healthy, playing well going in,and building chemistry.
Read my PJ quote in my sig.....i happen to agree with him wholeheartedly.
There's still much work to be done with this team but its only late December.

They are certainly capable of being in the top 4, but like what was said before seeding isn't as important as just getting there. I think they finish 5th or 6th

ditto. we just need to get in. in a seven game series, we're just as dangerous as anybody...

As of right now, I'd say 6-8.
However, this is really impossible to predict as there are too many unknowns. We don't know if Hill, Shaq, Nash or even Amare are gonna stay healthy, we don't know if there will be another trade or a major FA signing, we don't know if Nash is gonna stop turning the ball over, we don't know if Suns will stop giving up offensive rebounds.

Talent is definitely there, but who knows how it's going to turn out? They might miss playoffs altogether, or they may go to the finals. Stop turning the ball over and stop giving up offensive rebounds, add another rotation player and you're every bit as good as any other team in the league.

I agree. When you have a team featuring veteran All Stars, the post-season (with a consistent days-off schedule) is to our advantage.

As long as our defense, rebounding and rotation-chemistry have been honed during the long regular season.

D'Antoni couldn't accomplish that. Terry Porter is capable of achieving it.

I agree that DA wasn't capable of achieving that but what out of Porter's entire HC coaching career thus far leads you to believe this?

I voted top-4. With the age of Team though, I'm not sure how confident I am but not many Teams scare ME this year...

A surprising number of optimists in this thread. I was expecting everyone to say Out.

I'll say 5 or 6 seed.

before the trade, i would have said out of the playoffs our just an 8th seed. if we can defend the wings a little better, then i say we can be a 4th seed at best. i'm not sure what to vote for though. being fourth would mean a top 4 seed and a 4-8 seed. can i vote twice?

According to Hollinger's power rankings the Suns have had the hardest schedule in the western conference thus far. And, we are only 2 games behind the 2nd place western conference teams (NO,HOU)

Also combine that with the fact that we are executing the rest-a-shaq strategy pretty solidly to keep him healthier for the playoffs. Pretty good news so far!

Hopefully this team pulls through and we go on a serious tear to add some W's.

Oops - Make the second choice 5 - 8 seed.

Only 2 games back of #2 New Orleans at this point. Hopefully we can put together a run.

For starters, he's saying the things I consider necessary to be playoff-ready.

He's experimenting with implementing the right combination of offense and defense. He's not letting his ego get in the way.

And he's doing it at the right time, during the first half of the season.

As a long-time Suns fan, I'm hoping he provides the leadership to achieve playoff success. As a realist, I'm at peace believing he will.

Considering my displeasure with D'Antoni over the last 2-3 seasons, it is a nice feeling.

Now if only their downtown neighbors would make the same kind of change with their field leader. But it looks like Bob Mediocre is here to stay as the D'backs manager for awhile longer.

So Terry Porter gets my full support. As Shawn Marion would say, "Y-know-what-I-mean?"

This is key.
We may be dealing with Kerrs ego instead......but i have a feeling it doesn't match the egomaniacal ways of Mad Mike who was intent on proving the "experts" wrong at the expense of losing winnable playoff series'.

I know what you mean. And then if Porter cannot get the job done you will still find a way to blame DA.

It is safe to assume that all the Suns' woes and deficiencies--both individual and collective, including past, present, and into the foreseeable future--can easily be blamed on either D'Antoni or Nash. Or Kevin Bacon. :D

:lol:Where does it say that? I don't blame DA for anything but the NY Knicks right now. If this team turns out missing the playoffs or getting in only to get bounced in the 1st round the blame will fall squarely on Kerr/Porter.
How long will the D'Antonites continue to spin his legacy into one without faults?:D wow.
Once a fan always a fan i guess....i just wish ya'll would wake up and start pulling for this team to succeed despite the bitterness over his departure.
Even myself as a bitter fan(last season) over DA & his smallball BS was always "behind" this team and celebrated each victory with pride.

Oh, get real, Mr. Perfect Fan. You've read the posts on this board. It's DA's fault Amare hasn't reached his full potential in six years in the NBA. DA didn't use Shaq correctly (like Shaq ever obediently does what he's told). The only reason players loved DA was that he was a pushover. He really didn't do much of anything correctly, despite his record. One poster here blames Nash for everything but decimating the rain forests. You say, "I don't blame DA for anything but the NY Knicks right now." Yes, you do--one of your very last posts ended: "....the egomaniacal ways of Mad Mike who was intent on proving the "experts" wrong at the expense of losing winnable playoff series'." YOU'RE the one who can't let it go.

D'Antoni's gone and that should be the end of it. You asked how long the D'Antonites would continue to spin his legacy into one without faults? Probably just as long as the obsessed haters keep blaming him for things like "losing winnable playoff series". If you shut up, they'll shut up. Ya think?
