Again, I read somewhere that Kerr is trying to milk the Hornets for a pick to go along with Chandler. I really think that is funny.

It's a great idea... if Kerr were a veteran GM. In this case I'm just glad the Suns don't have a 2010 first round pick or the pick would be going the other way. I can't recall Kerr ever milking a GM around the NBA.

He couldn't even get a first round pick out of Shaq.

I think that we should just get a first round pick in the name of Karma.

You guys are seriously overrating Chandler. Even if we do snag him, we're still a borderline Top-6 team in the West with an old PG and an injury prone headcase PF.

It's not about Chandler individually. It's about the synergism by combining his game with Amare's. Chandler is THE perfect player to put alongside Amare. As I have said in another thread, Dalembert is close in that regard and Theo Ratliff of 8 years ago would have been an even better match. So, I base my opinion of Chandler on his effect on the play of the TEAM, not as Chandler as a centerpiece....

Kurt Thomas was the perfect player to put next to Amare.

Kerr really had to work hard to move a solid player with a 12M expiring contract which should have been an asset to a veteran GM. He even wrapped KT in bows (2 first round draft picks).

Just for the record, Thomas's expiring contract was only $8 or $8.5 million, I can't remember which. It's possible that the $12 million figure comes from the luxury tax the Suns would have had to pay, if they were a bit over the line.

Look, I LOVED KT, but he was not a perfect match to start alongside Amare. He was under 6'10" (6'8" I think) and he didn't have the ability to dominate the lane on D. KT would be a wonderful backup if you are building some realistic fantasy team, but KT had his shortcomings, no pun intended....

I agree. Chandler's abilities, size and lack of "gimme the damn ball" attitude would mesh nicely up front with Amare and hopefully....a nice year from the rook at SF. That would be a pretty BIG frontcourt(at least where height and length are concerned).

He was the quiet , slow guy who didn't score alot of points to the average SUNS fan.

Nailed it. People keep placing Kurt on this pedestal but I remember him getting worked by many of the centers. Kurt was a dirt worker and tough but not the difference between a team and a title. Kurt to me is the perfect backup PF/C. A guy you would love to have on your team but not starting IMO.

This team needs to do what they can to get Chandler IMO. He is a great fit with Amare and this scenario is probably the only one in which I would keep Amare versus trade him.

I have long wanted a frontcourt for the Suns along the lines of some of the teams from the 90's.

Blazers: Kersey-Williams-Duckworth
Sonics: McKey/Schrempf-Kemp-Cage
Rockets: Herrera-Thorpe-Olajuwon <--My personal favorite frontcourt

These teams used to eat us up. It's high time the Suns get big and hungry so they can start doing the eating. Enough of the building from the PG position....

Actually, now that I think about it, that HOU frontcourt would be a similar mold to a Clark-Stoudemire-Chandler frontcourt. Clark:Herrera, Chandler:Thorpe and Stoudemire:Dlajuwon (VERY loosely)....

Amen.
There was also Ewing/Oakley/C. Johnson.
That Olajuwon/Thorpe/Horry frontcourt wasn't too bad either;).
If we can get a healthy Chandler and Clark pans out, all we'd need to do is find some tweener guards that can shoot lights out and defend.:)

Instead, we got Chambers-Mustaf-Lang....

Edit: Don't remember if Mustaf actually started, but I'm just being facetious....

Yeah, have no idea where DEI got Hererra from, he barely played, especially once the playoffs came around.

I remember Ewing/Oakley/Mason/Charles Smith/X McDaniel...

Who is C. Johnson? Just wondering.

Well, my early memories have Herrera, a 6'9" SF, eating us up. Maybe the reality is that it's like opposing PGs having career games on Nash....
