Every time we have multiple turn overs and just play through it, I always think of Jerry Sloan. His team could be playing turn over free, and have one turn over, and Sloan would call a time out to chew out his guys for turning the ball over. LOL! I don't think we have to go to that extreme. However, even during in game interviews, the coaches mention the turn overs. They see it. So why is this team STILL doing it? There has to be an emphasis on this, especially this late in the season. The idea that guys haven't played together much and they are still learning to play with each other has flown out the window.
I only coached young kids. I get that as a coach you can have them do drills and play practices to emphasize certian things, and then when the game starts they revert to bad habits. It's frustrating. You can't change players. You HAVE to keep banging that drum. Bud is finally resorting to the last trick you can have. Play the starters less minutes, and give the back ups more time, especially if they are playing the way you want. Then you can tell them, yes, we are losing, but these guys are playing the way we have practiced. Imagine if you guys would do the same? It has worked for me. I get NBA guys ignore coaches. But you only have so many cards you can play as a coach.
Just frustrating because we see no progress on our greatest weakness. Like EJ says, the goal of the Suns should be to net more shots than their opponents. We continually let other teams have more shots than us. You can't win that way consistently. We have seen the Suns shoot 50-60% in games and still lose. When you give another team shooting forty-something percent, but they get 20 more shots, they will generally win. That's why we never pull away from other teams and have blow out wins.
Coaches AND players have to both take ownership. The owner has switched coaches a couple times now, The next thing left is the players.
