None of the options are wonderful.

1. Best bet is Trailor and/or JP for a vet minimum. I think the Suns held off doing anything on this on the chance that they would have more cap space and a different set of options.

2. Eisley and a second for Pollard may not be enough, but Indiana has four centers: Foster, Bender, Harrison (their first round pick) and Pollard with minimal PG depth.

3. Jacobsen for a third stringer like Elson. So far Elson has not proven he is better than Trailor or LP. Ditto for Hunter.

Bender is nothing close to a center.

To get rid of their 6'2" point guard who isn't a great passer, shooter or playmaker.

I never said either was a great option. But on a team loaded with guards, I'd rather overpay a big for a couple of years than Eisley.

Actually, Indiana could really use a backup power foward, Houston needs a point desperately, and we need a center. A three way Eisley, Weatherspoon, Pollard trade at least makes roster sense.

But trades that make sense never happen.

I still don't think Erick Dampier would have signed for the same deal that Richardson got. The Suns probably would have had to trade a player like Cabarkapa or Jacobson or both to get Dampier a bigger deal. I think he will end up in New York in a trade that brings Kurt Thomas to Golden State.

I tend to agree with this. You'll note that in the Mike D'Antoni QR interview, he said, "We still are looking to add another piece to get a little bit bigger." That sounds like a minimum JP, TT, or SW signing to me. It seemed a little "carefully worded" to me for some reason.

If they were thinking a trade, I'm not sure the term "add another piece" would be appropriate. BC said he is "working on deals", but that could mean anything.

A trade of Eisley and the rights to Milos would work for me, and you know Bird would love a shooter like Milos. Then sign Tractor to a 1 yr deal. That way Lampe can move to the 4 where he belongs, and we'll finally have some depth at the 5. I see this as a likely scenario.

Now I'm happy - very solid off-season for us - and while this team may not have the defensive chops that truly great teams have - neither did those Suns teams back in 1988-90 and 93-95 and by alla counts if injuires don't occur to certain players - likely one of those teams wins a title in that stretch.

The West is WIDE OPEN and if Amare can become even half the force on defense that already is on offense - this team could be a real handufl this year and if we add a true big body - a contender for years to come.

The next deal Bryan is reported working on might as well be signing JJ to a reasonable extension, smaller than Q's.
