The Suns play at the Timberwolves tonight at 7:30 PM Arizona time and beep... beep... Leandro Barbosa should see playing time at shooting guard. This a ESPN national telecast. Read more from Paul Coro at azcentral in an article dated 1-8-14.

This is sort of win-win situation as the Suns need the Timberwolves to win to get their first round draft pick in 2014.

Suns (20-13) at Timberwolves (17-17) … 7:30 p.m. Phoenix tip time

C: Miles Plumlee … Nikola Pekovic

PF: Channing Frye … Kevin Love

SF: P.J. Tucker … Corey Brewer

SG: Gerald Green … Kevin Martin

PG: Goran Dragic … Ricky Rubio

Key Timberwolves injuries: Chase Budinger (knee) has been practicing for three weeks and is possible to return tonight. Luc Richard Mbah a Moute (groin) is questionable.

Key Timberwolves reserves: Alexey Shved, Ronny Turiaf, Robbie Hummel, J.J. Barea, Dante Cunningham.

Kevin Martin's shot looks a lot like Kendall Marshall's mechanics. The Suns are down 9-0 early.

LB still has that great speed to get to the basket. So good to see him in a Suns uniform again.

Frye is having an excellent game so far today. Really bothering Love, making his outside shots and had a couple nice help defensive plays.

Frye is playing well offensively too. Him and Dragic are carrying the Suns.

Whoa so I didn't watch the game but nice to see a win! Looks like last minute heroics, and love was held in check. I'm guessing by frye.

Man, got my heart pumping in the end there. Suns absolutely stole one on a fairly improbable shot (but then again, I think a lot of Green's shots are improbable).

Twolves inexplicably went away from Pekovic who was just murdering the Suns inside. After he fouled Plumlee out I don't think he touched the ball. I thought for sure they'd just give it to him, clear out and just put the game out of reach. I'm glad I was wrong.

Dragic with some great plays down the stretch. The euro-step right handed layup was great! Need to see more right handed finishes from him to keep the defense honest.

Channing Frye frustrated Love defensively. Love shoots 4-20 from the field.

First time I've had an extended look at Pekovic and man, what a load down low. Strong, good touch around the rim and just fiends for the ball. He's exactly what I imagine PJ Tucker would be if he was 6 inches taller and 40 lbs heavier.

How'd the last shot by the suns play out? Looks like three seconds was left on the clock.

I'm not going to lie, I thought the final play would go to Love and Frye would somehow foul him. I'm much happier with reality.

Same here.

Or Pekovic. As Suns_fan69 notes, I don't know why the Timberwolves went away from him.

Goran was stopped on the baseline, I believe he tried to pass it to a Morris twin behind him but the ball ended up with Green. He elevated over everyone to make the game winning two point shot.

Cause Minnesota is the worst team in the NBA in terms of executing down the stretch. They are 0-10 in close games. And they have had some close games against some of the very god teams like LAC, OKC, Dallas etc but they just give away games.

That was such a classic "no, no, no... YESSSS" play. Goran bobbled the dribble, got stuck in no mansland, left and jump passed to Kieff who bobbled it (not a great pass by Goran). Credit Green for making a smart cut and canning a tough shot.

Green with such a clutch shot . I pretty much gave up when they went up 7 with about 2 minutes left but I'm glad the team didn't

This place (Game-day thread) has been dead for a long time, it doesn't necessarily mean we missed the game though, great or otherwise. I tend to watch two games at the same time so I can avoid commercials which leaves me a little behind real time. My DVR has two tuners (most of them probably do) so I put one on pause and watch the other game till commercial at which time I pause that tuner and watch the other till it goes to commercial. Rinse and Repeat, it's a fun life. And yes, it was a great finish. We won therefore it was also a great game. Minnesota fans probably feel differently though.
