The "We are the Biggest Idiots in Journalism" Award
FOR: The best owners in the League.
SPONSORED BY: The Yawkey Trust Foundation

WINNER: Phoenix Suns (Jerry Colangelo)
Well, we're the biggest horses asses in journalism. Just a few short months after proclaiming Jerry Colangelo the WORST owner in the NBA, a new ownership group and a few short months later, we must proclaim him the best owner in the NBA. Who knew what he was planning? Not only did he pull off a major coup, shipping Shawn Marion, Leandro Barbosa and their #1 draft pick to Orlando for Tracy McGrady and a future #1, they also managed to entice the Charlotte Bobcats to mercifully take Howard Eisley off their hands. AND to top it off, the Suns signed Kobe Bryant to a huge multiyear contract. Now all they have to do is extend McGrady, and this team will be near the top of the "favorites" pile for a long time to come. Yes, we are idiots!

I've seen excuse making on the Cards board but none of it matches the manure I've read here.

Face it, Jerry sold out the Suns' present and near future to get his cash out. And he IS selling out 100% of his ownership, as I posted here many times.

But the only thing I don't like about his sale is that he's going to retain some management input. I'm sure he plans to "resign" as managing partner in about a year, thus completing the manure spreading cycle.

Cut the histrionics, Jerry, just get it over with and get out. More enlightened management like you've provided the last 7 years is unwelcome.

Skkorp,

And what would you have done right after the last collective bargaining agreement?

C'mon, at least admit that Jerry GOT SCREWED by the last CBA. The Suns were positioning themselves to be a leading player in FA that next season.

All for not. Dice leaves. Googs signs. End of story.

Management drafts Shawn Marion and steals Amare right out from Jerry West and you claim that management has failed?

Tell me what you would have done differently.

(BTW, PHX was going NOWHERE with Marbury. And, to unload Penny AND Googs during the same year is mind-blowing. That in itself deserves a gold medal.)

wow, such negativity towards the only owner to ever bring a major championship (dbacks) and one of the best run franchises (suns) in the history of sports in az.

i for one will be sad the day the suns win a championship and jerry is not the owner. that's a crying shame.
