Or they can trade for Giannis... 6'10 Point Center.
And then MCW to be PF..

C: Giannis
PF: MCW
SF: Dragic
SG: Bledsoe
PG: Thomas

It might actually work.

The cliched "they're going to need more than one ball" comes to mind thinking of that lineup.

I think Goran gets plenty of respect from the Suns although it may not always look like it.
As has been posted before, bumping 3rd Team All-NBA Point Guard Goran Dragic to Shooting Guard/Small Forward is hardly showing respect.

He has made it clear that he doesn't like it. I think his is the opinion that matters most.

First off, he wasn't 3rd Team All NBA Point Guard. He was 3rd Team All NBA Guard. They don't distinguish between point guard and shooting guard. And he won that award for the SEASON. A season in which he spent much of the time off the ball. I also think you're taking liberties saying "he has made it clear that he doesn't like it" and equating it solely to playing shooting guard.

Being comical for a moment but can you imagine 5 PGs on the floor at one time. Need two taller PGs to play center and PF. :p

Hey, Magic Johnson played PF/C during his comeback...Don't rule it out, if they can find a 6'7"-6'9" PG/SG...

Magic played PF/C during his youth too including a classic matchup at the center position with the then much talked about Darryl Dawkins in the Championships. Dawkins star never shone as brightly after Magic outplayed him.

Well the Suns did have Boris Diaw for awhile if that counts. :)

He was once considered a PG.

That's a good one. I think he's been tried seriously at every position except the 2 spot. No one ever confused him for a shooting guard.

Then I guess it's back to Magic Johnson, the player that could do it all.

Yes, 3rd team NBA out of all Guards instead of just Point Guards. Being selected out of an even larger group is even more of an honor.

He earned the recognition mainly after Bledsoe went down injured for half of the season. Dragic was the Point Guard. He spent no time during that stretch alongside another Point Guard.

Is there any doubt that Goran would not have made 3rd team NBA if he spent the second half of the season alongside Bledsoe? Or Bledsoe and Thomas?

I also think you're taking liberties saying "he has made it clear that he doesn't like it" and equating it solely to playing shooting guard.
As sunsfan88 posted at the time:

At issue with the Suns and Dragic is the guard logjam on the team, which Dragic addressed on Tuesday. He told AZCentral.com’s Paul Coro that the reason for some of Phoenix’s early struggles this year is “because there’s only one ball and we’re all point guards.”

http://www.sportingnews.com/nba/sto...cy-contract-salary-eric-bledsoe-isaiah-thomas

In response to the question of "logjam", Goran said, "early struggles this year", "only one ball" "we're all point guards". I condensed that as "he doesn't like it". I really don't think that is taking liberties.

And earlier when asked a similar question, he said it was due to trying to adjust to the absence of Frye. You guys routinely dismiss that comment but you read reams of information from his second one? I don't think any of us know what's going on in his mind. I watch them play and I don't see an unhappy Goran (most of the time).

Dragic has said several times that he loves playing with Eric, and again that statement gets ignored. I don't know how he feels about IT or the presence of an additional guard although it's clear they struggled a bit to fit together early.

For the season, we are winning 70% of our games when all 3 of our guards play. Why are so many fans in a hurry to separate this team from such a nasty winning percentage?

What in the bloody hell do you expect him to say? "You know, he's a selfish douche bag who only cares about himself" or something similar?
Of course he is going to be diplomatic.

I watched him make those comments. Many times. It's usually quite easy to tell the difference between diplomatic and earnest. He was earnest. If you watched them and felt otherwise, then say so.

Because it is just another year of Suns tradition. Put on a show during the regular season. But don't build a team that will be powerful into the playoffs.

Steve, you know that the refs favor muscle over speed during the stretch run and through the playoffs. 3 Point Guards, a Small Forward and a Power Forward (or even occasionally a Center) to close out games is not the formula for playoff success.

The fans you refer to are the ones who are disappointed with that approach.

Many of whom are the same fans who are disappointed with the Frye approach. Station your Center/Power Forward 23 feet from the basket on offense.

There is a big difference between that and having a post position player who is a threat to hit an 18 or 23 foot jumper from time to time.

Unfortunately, the owner's goal is to play beep-beep basketball during the season for casual fans, increase the attendance and revenue and build a new stadium. He is not a basketball purist.

Here's a question I have asked repeatedly but never got an answer back...if this 3 PG offense is such a genius move, why isn't any other team in the NBA trying to do the same thing right now?

Are the Suns smarter than the rest of the NBA to be the only team who runs a 3 PG system while everyone else runs more normal systems?

The Suns best three players are PGs. I'm don't believe this to be true of other NBA teams although I can't say this with certainty. This is why the Suns run it.

I would say that sunsfan88's question is not about what Hornacek coaches, but rather the roster that the Front Office has provided.

Two lead Point Guards last season. Three lead Point Guards this season. If I were the Coach, I'd be pissed and feel trapped. What's next? Signing the Gorilla to a contract and putting a trampoline on the court? :)

Say this 3 times. "The Suns best three players are PGs. The Suns best three players are PGs. The Suns best three players are PGs."

What owner would allow his Front Office to stock a 5-player professional sports team that way? A banker, that's who? There's a lot of population in the Valley. Get those turn styles going. It is not about the art of basketball.

I see the Suns using at least one of their three best players, which are PGs, to make a trade. The Suns would still have an up and going PG on their roster in Tyler Ennis. As I view it the Suns have acquired the best talent they could find at a reasonable price rather than spend it on an average big man. I think if you are patient, McDonough will soon make a trade using at least one of their PGs to acquire a frontline player that will make you happy.

OK, that'll be our New Years resolution. 'Hope it's theirs.

Speaking of that, I wish all of our ASFN posters a happy holiday season and a happy, healthy and successful 2015. Entering our 15th year into the new century. It happened so quickly.

BC867, I hope the Suns acquire another player that will push them towards the top.

I wish you and all ASFN posters, a happy holiday season and a prosperous new year as well.
