Correction: Pistons are 7-0 since acquiring Anthony Tolliver. RT @MySportsLegion: Pistons are 7-0 since waiving Josh Smith.

Has anyone here watched the Pistons play during their winning streak? I watched their last 2 games, vs Spurs & vs Mavs and god they play beautiful basketball.

I always thought Stan Van Gundy was let go unfairly by Orlando. He's proving me right. He's a good coach and should bring Detroit back to being among the top teams in the East within 2-3 years.

Its amazing how beautiful basketball can be when the ball moves freely. All it takes is one player to stop it.

Its amazing how much better his defense and rim protecting looks in Detroit. Two big time blocks to go along with a good offensive showing.

Maybe just a one game thing but still...damn.

It's probably time to bash Hornacek why didn't let him play and McD why he traded him.

I don't think its fair to point fingers at anybody. The Suns brought him in here to fill a specific role and it didn't work out. The Suns made a fair deal to shed his contract and send him to a team that wanted him.

Win win win

He was brought here to be the next Channing Frye.

Could it be the role that is the problem?

Makes since. I don't care enough to watch Piston's games to find out but he's probably being used differently there.

Do you think some people are unhappy unless players the Suns trade away stink with their new team?

I wouldn't be happy if he stinks with his new team.

If anything, his doing well in Detroit would be proof that the problem is, what you referred to as, the specific role he was brought in to fill.

As I posted, could it be the (Channing Frye) role that is the problem? Not many big men are comfortable or content planting themselves 23 ft. from the basket on offense.

I think Tolliver plays best when his role is expanded from being just a 3 point shooter. IMO, this was at the core of his problems with the Suns. He excelled when he played for the Warriors where I remember him best. His shots and rebounding came in the flow of the game.

He excelled relative to himself on other teams. His rebounding is down 25% from his peak with GSW (a modest 8.1/36 then) - it was worse than that last year and he played a fairly consistent 20 mpg with Charlotte then. He got a block a game with the Warriors and thats eroded steadily since.
He might come back to life with Detroit but he certainly didn't appear to on that path here and I would say he got a fair trial run.

I don't like the second guessing. It just didn't work out here.
He seemed like a good dude. Glad he is finding some success with his new team.

He had a good game. Big deal. He gets an opportunity on a team that is not nearly as deep as the Suns. He couldn't crack the roster here. So they traded him. Good grief.

And BC. If they wanted another Channing Frye, why do you think they got Brandan Wright instead. He is bigger and more of an interior player than Tolliver will ever be.

Please stop it. Please stop seeing the same thing in everything that happens with this team.

Wow! My comment had nothing to do with Wright. It was about Tolliver's failure to fit in with the Suns. This thread is about Tolliver.

It is. They jettisoned Tolliver in favor of Wright, who obviously is nothing like Channing Frye and never could be. So its obvious that the expectation of Tolliver was not to stand at the three point line and crank out threes.

My contention about Tolliver not fitting in is not that he did not fill a role, its just that he just plain was not good enough to earn pt on this roster. If you do something, you have to do it well enough to earn time on the floor. He did not do that.
