I don't see any resemblence between the Hunter situation and the House situation. The problem was that the Suns wanted Bell very badly and paid him $4.2 from the MLE of $5. This left only the LLE for Hunter, which was $1 million less the first year than the Suns could offer. Also, the most the Suns could offer was 2 years while Philly offed 5 years.

Even though Hunter would be useful, I have little doubt that taking Bell was a vastly better decision. But once they took Bell, it made it impossible to match what Philly offered even if they wanted to.

The House situation is different. The Suns are not likely to make a run at a player with their full MLE. This means the Suns will be on a level playing field when dealing with House. I would not be shocked if he got upwards of 1/2 the MLE, but not only a really long deal.

What's the Luxury Tax number?

The Suns would be around $60 Million with 2 Draft Picks... I'll say it again, if the Suns aren't willing to go into Luxury Tax area with another top 4 Team and key players needed to be upped the next 2 years, how many times can you take it out on players?

House deserves at least $3 Million a year, which means the Picks will probably Traded, AGAIN... Diaw after the next year, deserves at least $6-7 Million and Barbosa at least $4-5 Million.

I really don't know what's Sarver problem with going into Luxury Tax with a top-tier Team? The guy makes a lot of profit...

As I've been saying, there's a 100% chance Eddie House is gone after this year. Remember how the Steven Hunter business played out?

Interesting recap from Gambo and Ash, sunsfn. I had been thinking that Skita was a sort of gift for D'Antoni, but it sounds like there's been consistent interest in him from BC and the front office.

I wonder why the Suns didn't make a stronger push for Skita over the summer.
Unless Eddie really wants to be here, I agree he'll be gone next year. There is some crappy team that is going to see his scoring average and offer him $2 million thinking he'll upgrade their bunch. Then they'll run a different kind of offense than the Suns do and Eddie won't play well and eventually will get released.

And then the Suns can pick him back up for the minimum.

Sounds like a plan. ;)

I'm not sure how much Eddie will attract on the open market. At the end of the year, he'll still be what he was at the start of the season - a 6'1" streaky backup shooting guard.

Damon Jones had a great season with the Heat last season and is making $3.5 million this year with the Cavs. This year he is shooting only 37.5%.

Throwing big money to guys who had one great year is a gamble. There may be some team willing to pay Eddie big bucks, but it sure looks like a chancy proposition.

I think teams are starting to realize how much more valuable players look in the Suns system. There aren't any other coaches in the league who would let Eddie play the way he does here.

Exactly, Eddie stopping on the break and launching a 3 with nobody there to rebound doesn’t fit well with too many teams.

It will only take one team that is willing to outbid the Suns.
