As noted in the game thread, Cam Payne (reported right knee soreness) will again be out for the Kings game.

Only thinking out loud, but could this be one of the reasons the Suns have not filled their vacant roster spot?

At least to my knowledge the 15th standard roster spot has not officially been filled since Frank Kaminsky was waived.

I'm wondering if Iffe Lundberg could still be a candidate for that spot along with Ish Wainright.

Iffe is likely a candidate since they haven't officially done anything yet but he'll really need to WOW Monty and JJ to take that spot from Ish, IMO.

They are probably just working on details as far as options for Ish to get his deal upped to a regular contract. We all know Sarver looks to save wherever he can and waiting until all regular season games are finished will save him a few thousand in what he'd need to pay Wainwright if he were upped to a regular deal already.

If Payne misses any playoff time, with God as my witness, I will lose my ish a couple times if Payton plays over Holiday.

I'm thinking the Suns want to bring Iffe to training camp next season and and explore the idea of signing him to another two-way contract or perhaps with the chance he makes the regular season roster. However, the Suns are interested in him or they wouldn't have brought him over.

The Suns may still choose to add Ish Wainright to their roster this season but if there is any question about Cam Payne's health I could see them rethinking the matter. The Suns still have time to get Lundberg up to speed as point guard depth. I'm not wanting to see the Suns in position where they have to play Payton.

Losing Payne for any significant period in the playoffs would put the Suns in a precarious position. IMO, the Suns need more than Holiday as a backup in case of fouls or injury.

I think we'll see a big backcourt with Shamet and Booker if Payne isn't healthy. Rotations will be shortened anyway and Shamet will likely see more minutes if he can keep his solid play up. I'm not too concerned since we have options like Point Book, Shamet, and Holiday before we go to Payton.

Honestly I'd rather not even see Payton during garbage time at this point. Cut him and sign both Ish and Iffe to deals so they're eligible for the postseason.

What's not to love? The classic underdog at the end of the bench. Feel good story of him making the NBA, fleeing Europe with his young family during the war, cool name, etc.
His basketball ability? Thus far we’ve seen nothing (because he really hasn’t played) to argue that he would be a net positive for a deep team making a championship run.

Yeah I like the idea of Iffe but he’s nothing more than an afterthought at this point.

If he gets Elfrid waived that would be a positive. That's probably the most impact he's capable of having this postseason though.

Once the decision was made to waive Frank, I was hoping the Suns would waive Elfrid too.

Ish has been a part of the team all season and Iffe shows signs of being a chemistry guy as well.

Which scenario would you prefer?
-
Clippers get the 8-seed & Warriors get the 3-seed (or) Clippers get the 7-seed and Warriors get the 4-seed?

Chris Paul will lead the league in assists for the fifth time.

Clippers in round 1 and let GS and Memphis take each other out.

The worst case is having to go through both GS and Memphis

No one in the media answers the question, can Elfrid Payton still be waived and replaced for the playoffs?

I'm thinking probably not but I'd still like the answer.
