About Duane Washington, Jr. Since he was a "fringe" player and a two-way free agent of whom little was expected, I have tended to forget that he's only 22. He appears to be nothing but a Microwave at present; but perhaps he could eventually be molded into a real point guard and generally a more complete player.

Does anyone see such potential in him?
Microwaves off the bench are valuable. There are many times in a season when teams need a fast injection of points. I think a couple games we lost that were close, we possibly could have won if Washington Jr. had not been injured.

On Hoop Collective Windy said the Suns are hard to trade with. JJ has a habit of asking for to much.

Suns are holding out for a legit starter for Crowder whose value is only going down day after day.
I like this. When Danny Ainge does this, people say he's too hard to trade with. It just takes one good trade in your favor to turn things around.

Yet Danny Ainge just seems to do it over and over funny how that works.

This isn't the Ainge way of fleecing teams. I think JJ is too afraid to lose trades and look bad. His first deal as GM was the Ariza debacle that almost didn't happen. It ended up working out but we weren't supposed to get Oubre and JJ was mocked for his inexperience because of how that all leaked out. I don't believe it was his fault but he's seemed to make sure all i's are dotted and t's are crossed now. Look at other deals he's made since, either they're really small like Aaron Holiday for cash considerations or they take a while, the CP3 deal. How long did the Paul trade take to become official? Everyone knew it was essentially done but that took like 10 days or more to iron out specifics and then we ended up with Nader and Jerome went to OKC also. The rest of the deal was known much sooner.

He needs to realize you can look equally inept not making a deal though as you can from making a bad one.

Some of the trades I am glad we did not make. I think he's way above our previous GMs. Our front office has seemed a wreck ever since Collangelo left.

I don't really know what he is. I don't blame him for most of our current problems because we all know how Sarver works. But if it turns out that we got rid of our G League franchise because of JJ's theories, and if we downscaled our investment in scouting and player development because of JJ, then I really hope he doesn't survive the change in ownership.

My guess is James Jones sold Robert Sarver on an alternative strategy for winning.

That he could build a winner by better spending the money on proven players (something tangible) rather than on long shot G-League talent and player development.

I don't trust this Front Office.
I don't trust them to draft correctly. I don't trust that they know how to develop young talent and since they dropped the G League team, they may just not give a ****.
I don't trust when the say things like "DA is a big part of our plans moving forward". Yeah no doubt, trades ARE plans.
I don't trust that there's anyone on our coaching staff with the balls enough to say " Hey coach, how bout you call a %$!@^&$#@ timeout instead of watching ANOTHER 20 pt lead dwindle to nothing". And I don't trust that the coach could handle it if someone did.

If JJ trades DA for someone with a pulse and a BB IQ above 0, he should get GM of the year consideration. How any fan of this team cannot see the 1/2 arse effort and lack of smarts while watching the soft and stupid DA loaf around the court is astounding. The only time DA tries to post up or block out is when he is cashing his undeserved checks

Really?

You see the return Gobert got, who I don't care what anyone says is an inferior player, and you want to trade away Ayton for nothing?

Ayton is the 4th or 5th best center in the NBA, and he has the talent to be the 3rd best. You don't give that away. He is steadily improving, not nearly as fast as I would like, but the amount of Hatred he gets from fans is way overdone.

No way in hell is DA the 4th or 5th best center in the league, if he was he would have been traded in the off-season. He has gotten worse with the demise of CP3 and the the loss of Booker. You can get what DA brings to the table for 10M or less. Trade for a legit rebounder/team 1st guy and bite the bullet and trade Crowder+whatever for Randle (rumor is NY wants him) to play the 4, Suns need attitude and a 3rd who can create their own shot. The mental midgets outside of CP3 and Book have proven they cannot.

My Dream scenario

DA/whatever to ATL for Capella/Bogdonovic

Crowder/whatever for Randle

This is what a Suns player can do just by having the will. I don't care that it didn't help win the game, I still call it the emotional high point of the post-Finals Barkley era. It was Romantic: a howl of defiance for a hopeless cause. Normally, you just don't dunk on Hakeem Olajuwon--he controlled the paint so thoroughly that Michael Jordan admits to fearing him!

A pity that the current Suns players (healthy and not) don't appear to have this in them. :( When one of their games looks over, it very probably is over.

That was a great moment but you're missing some things just reading gameday threads and checking out box scores IMO. This team has fought back time and again, almost every single game. Ayton has his off nights and Chris Paul is often a real liability out there but the rest of the guys have brought plenty of energy to the court.

The majority of games Ayton is bringing energy too.

Really the only game I have felt the team gave up and did not fight at all was the Celtics game. That isn't the teams problem.

The problem is lack of scoring with the injuries we have had.

Name 5 centers that are better.

Bam is better, but it’s close. Turner and porzingas, no.
I’d rather have DA going forward (Porzingis will get hurt eventually) but if we’re just looking at this season which roughly 40% of the way through…

PPG: KP
RPG: DA
APG: KP
BPG: KP
SPG: KP
FG%: DA
3P%: KP
FT%: KP
TS%: DA
PER: KP
Win Shares: KP
Plus/Minus: KP
VORP: KP

Why would you only look at this season?

Cause it’s this season? Only difference between this year and last is Ayton has a higher win shares and higher 3p% (on less than 1 attempt per game).

The wild thing is Porzingis has a soft big man label and has more than double the FTA’s per game since Ayton entered the league. Woof.

That trade is an outlier. Future trades won't be anything like that.
