Oh tell me tell me, how did Suns win?

I checked out the box score and Suns was down by 3 at 3:00 and I thought Suns might lose.

It was looking grim. The Suns lost a 10 point lead in the third quarter and fell to 13 back. The calls weren't going well, the shots weren't falling, and it the Lakers were killing the Suns on the boards.

Then Marion, Johnson, and Nash hit threes in consecutive trips and the Suns went on tear to tie it up. It was nip and tuck including a terrible turnover with about 45 seconds left. But after Amare scored on one of two free throws to give the Suns a one point lead, Kobe came down and beat JJ to get to the basket. Amare fouled him and Kobe hit only one of his foul shots. Score tied.

Nash brings the ball down, dribbles around to run the clock down, makes a move into the paint and draws the doubleteam - pitches back to Q who drains and three. Next sequence and the Suns prevent a good shot and win by three.

All in all, it was an amazing game. Making a big comeback against the Warriors doesn't mean much, but against LA on the second of back to back games. Incredible.

Wow!! I just read it on the Lakers forum that Suns did a 19-3 in the 4th quarter again? HOLY COW! This is definitely a sign of a GREAT TEAM. Many think 4th quarter is the key quarter of the game. If you can do well in 4th quarter, you usually win. Suns did just exactly that. I like it! You can't believe how many Fakers fans are so mad. They thought they had this one...just like last time. MUahahahahaha. I ain't no Lakers hater but I feel great when Suns just TOOK IT AWAY like that. It's like you give a kid some candy and make him feel good, and then you take the candy away... the kid cries.

Amazing game I have to say. I was really worried about Suns' condition but I guess those YOUNG GUNS are in great shape.

I had a feeling Nash won't have an A+ game tonight because I knew he can't handle long and tiring minutes but overall, he did good. FG% isn't too high but 10 assist and only 3 turnovers.

Not trying to be rude, but every time the Suns get a win over the Lakers people in here act like they won a playoff series or something. It's clearly more important from the perspective of a Suns fan. To suggest suicide watch for any Lakers fan over a regular season loss to the Suns...is laughable. That's all I was saying.

I hear what you are saying, I think the suicide watch comment stems from the fact that the Suns were down by 13 in the fourth, and the Lakers had them by the jugular; to lose that game to a division foe at home, that has to hurt....Reminds me of the Suns loss to the Cavs when they were up by 19, those losses are demoralizing...

man, that game really ran the gamut of emotions, I still have a headache from it... :D

You act confused by my post, and then respond with an audacious, condescending remark ... in typical Laker fan fashion. I can only respond by saying ... "get over yourself."

Hence, the original post.

boys and girls - THAT WAS F*CKING AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!

All game long we were hooting and hollering until we went down 13 - then some jackass five seats down who hadn't said a word to Ouchie and I all game looked over and said, "I don't hear those Phoenix fans talking anymore!"

Ouchie simply looked at him and simply said: This game's not over yet.

Then the SCREAMS from the crowd when Q's shot went up and silence except for . . . YEAHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ouchie and I then turned, and din't say a word but stared at the guy - CLASSIC!

Best basketball game I've ever been to - PERIOD.

Everyone was huge - Marion - HUGE CLUTCH THREES.

JJ - Great all around game.

Amare drwaing fouls at the end.

And then Q - simply Q.

Nash didn't let this team quit and for the first time Ouchie and I were in agreement when it was tied. We said: This team just actually feels like it WILL finally hit that big shot - and they did.

Priceless boys - Free $200.00 tickets - 13 point comeback - a Laker crowd silenced - Priceless!!!!!!!!

Anyway, I'm not trying to start a fight. This was a great game to watch. Very, Very entertaining. I'm really starting to enjoy watching NBA games again this year.

The smugness of Laker fans just kills me sometimes.

From the reactions of the Laker fans, I thought I might repeat my post at #12 on this thread:

I think this game is more important for the Lakers than for the Suns. The Suns are coming off a hard fought game last night and playing a playoff team on the road is always difficult. We'd be dissappointed if the Suns lost, but unless they play badly, not terribly upset.

For the Lakers this is a huge game. They are currently ranked fourth in the Pacific and risk losing what little is left of the Laker mystique. They let the game get away from them in Phoenix, but losing two in a row to team they used to dominate would hurt. Losing to a team playing on the road caming off a game the night before would be even more humiliating.

I just saw the post talking about me bagging on Shawn and you know what - he has SHUT ME UP COMPLETELY SO FAR THIS SEASON - he's been AMAZING this season and is now - REALLY BECOMING THE PLAYER I ALWAYS HOPED HE WOULD BE.

This team is starting to feel "special" and I LOVE IT!

Honestly - being there - in a hostile environment with just my brother and I was beyond words unbelievable - beyond words - YEAH!!!!!!!!!!

Way to represent! We need MORE vocal fans who attend games both home and away.

16-3. This is getting serious.

BTW, I DO NOT want to play this Laker team in the playoffs. I still have shades of the series in which we went down 0-3, and needed Westphal's speech to light a fire.

Oh man, I would have loved to been there. Old man Jack probably laid a hemorroid after Q's shot.

C'mon, sly - it was only 0-2. The Suns ran away with the league's best record and were a top seed...and the Lakers were a sub .500 team that barely made the playoffs. Was almost one of the biggest series upsets in NBA history. If Scott's shot had fallen... :D

I think that was the point of his post. Historically, the Suns do not play well against the Lakers. Tonight was just another example, although they managed to come away with a miracle win thanks to the unexpected choke job by #8.

The Lakers are out of the playoffs as of now and before the Suns game they had the easiest rated schedule in the league.

It was a great game. One that could have gone either way, just like the first game in which the Lakers actually had a much bigger lead and still lost.

Sorry about the smugness, it happens when your team spoils you with titles over the years.

(Not a slam, just the facts. I am a Cards fan, so I'm well-balanced sportswise. :D )

It's going to suck being a Lakers' fan for the next 7 years, for me at least. I wish we still had Shaq and the adulterous piece of crap wearing #8 had been sent packing. :bang:

Sucks when you can't even cheer for your team's best player. :(

I'm awaiting Divac's return. It's been awhile since he was out there for a Lakers' team, gonna be cool to see that again.

What elindholm said...

You're right, 0-2 not 0-3.

What a great game. Back and forth, run and gun basketball.

The Lakers played well, esp in the third when they really shut down the Suns and pounded the offensive glass. There were some bad calls but I didn't think it was slanted to one team or the other. I thought Marion was in position when Cook ran him over. Then later Cook was probably set when he was called for the block against Amare. The charge on Amare where Kobe pushed him then fell down was just ridiculous.

That run in the fourth qtr. was awesome.

I was left stunned by Nash's shot to tie it at 107.

What a finish. This team sure is exciting to watch.

The pace was so fast that it never left time for the cameramen to get bored and pan the crowd for shots of Ouchie and cheese. :bang: :D
