9 AM our time, NBA-TV.

TA has something to prove -- apparently we almost drafted their star, Halperin.

Yes, he was just put in -- 20-14 Maccabi TA with 4 Min left in the 1st Q. I'm listening on KTAR.com, because I can't find it anywhere online. I'm checking to see if I can track down video live on Israeli TV maybe. TA is playing fast, sloppy, and loud.

For all of you who dont have regular NBATV: Try the TVUPlayer, it usually carries the NBATV signal. I have watched some of the NBA Live Europe games, and the stream quality is good. Best of all, it is the English language broadcast and not some Chinese blablabla.

TA has led throughout, midway through the 2nd Q, but they are getting into foul trouble. Suns are within 4 now.
I can't locate video anywhere that doesn't cost or require a big software download.

How has Amare done for those of you watching?

I haven't watched the whole thing, but the consensus seems to be that he's about the same as yesterday, rusty but healthy looking. The fact that he's playing today is a great sign. Hopefully it'll force Dantoni to play him with the starters so they can learn how to use him properly. That's really the only problem right now, that the offense isn't quite sure how to use Amare yet.

OK, 3rd Q 77-73 lead for Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv.

I'm sorry, this should NOT be this close -- this is their preseason too; they are a newly-rebuilt team with all new coaches.

McCoy thinks Amare looks a bit more at ease today.

I have to think Amare playing back-to-back games is a VERY good sign.

119-102 final, maccabi lead for 3 quarters though.

Amare dunked on one guy, that was nice, he looks like he isn't giving much of an effort on defense though.

I didn't see yesterday's game, so this is the first of seen of Amare, but he looks healthy, just lost......you can tell the other players are used to each other, but he's not used to them and they're not used to him......he seemed slow, but didn't seem to be limping/straining/in any pain at all......he looks thinner to me than he's been......

He had a nice dunk in the 4th, played the last 6 minutes or so of the 3rd and was still in there when i had to leave for work with about 4 minutes left in the 4th......

i'd have to say he looked like an 'A' health wise, but a C+ game flow wise.....the game seemed to be moving fast for him, just my opinion....

it was fun to see them out on the floor, i'm ready for the season.....

I think Marion looks a little thicker as well but, I could be wrong.

Also, I think anyone who scoffed at the Barbose extension is going to feel very foolish for the next 5 years.

ESPN2 looks like they're replaying the Suns-Maccabi game from 12:00-2:30 for those that didn't catch it on NBATV.

EDIT: The Cox cable program guide was wrong, ESPN is showing the 76ers Moscow game.

It sounds like Diaw had a great game tonight, including a couple of "thunderous" dunks. Barbosa had a great game as well, and Amare had 11 points, including one nice slam and went 5-5 from the FT line (boy we could use that in the regular season). He also had 3 boards and a steal. Banks also had 21 points and took 10 FT's as well!

Edit: People on the other forums are raving about Diaw's play today. He had quite a few thunderous dunks and a great spin move. I think he really wants that extra 10 million and if he plays aggressively like he did today, he'll certainly earn it.

From what I heard, the game will be replayed later tonight on NBATV. The second half is certainly worth a watch.

Phoenix hands Maccabi Tel Aviv third straight preseason loss

Jerusalem Post

Maccabi Tel Aviv lost its third and final game at the NBA Live Europe Tour in humiliating fashion Wednesday, with Steve Nash's Phoenix Suns thrashing the Israeli's 119-102 at the 19,000-capacity Cologne Arena in Germany.

Maccabi coach Neven Spahija shuffled his starting lineup ahead of the game in an attempt to end the losing streak, benching new acquisition Rodney Buford, who was disappointing against CSKA Moscow on Tuesday. Simas Jasaitis replaced him at the small forward position, but it wasn't enough.

"I think these exhibition games are good for Maccabi," team president Shimon Mizrahi said when asked about the squad's poor results. "Some people think that it was not such a good move to play tough teams in the pre-season. But I think it's good that a club of our stature is involved in the globalization of basketball."

Maccabi now travels to the US to play a series of exhibition games against NBA teams, with the first match to be played Tuesday night against Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

New signing Noel Felix is expected to join the yellow-and-blue in the tour and provide a much-needed inside presence, something that was noticeably missing this month. Felix is expected to start alongside Nikola Vujcic in the front court, taking away valuable minutes from local highflier Lior Eliyahu.

Spahija's team kicks off its Euroleague campaign on October 26 at the Nokia Arena against Spanish giants Malaga. Maccabi will face tough opposition in Group B, with teams such as Panathinaikos, Roma and Partizan Belgrade looking to qualify for the next stage.

In Cologne, the Israeli champions benefited from a good start by point guard Will Bynum, who used his impressive speed and strong physique to out-maneuver Nash. Eliyahu also began well, scoring six straight points to give Maccabi the lead in the opening minutes.

The yellow-and-blue continued playing high-percentage basketball and led by 12 points (33-21) at the end of the first quarter, with Bynum forcing a foul at the buzzer and burying both of his attempts from the charity stripe.

Buford was inserted in the second quarter, but the Sun's found their rhythm and cut into Maccabi's lead when Shawn Marion began to relentlessly attack the hoop, humiliating hapless defenders time after time.

Despite the Sun's offensive outburst, swingman Sharon Sason entered the game and kept the Israeli's ahead with a crucial three-pointer and two quick buckets in transition, giving Maccabi a 60-57 lead at half-time.

Phoenix went on the attack at the start of the second half, and once again Marion was the catalyst. "The Matrix" produced another series of jaw-dropping slam-dunks by using his deadly first step to breeze past the Maccabi forwards, giving the Sun's an 80-79 lead after three quarters.

Phoenix coach Mike D'Antoni pulled out Nash and Marion in the last period, introducing Amare Stoudemire and Brazilian guard Leandro Barbosa into the grind. The Sun's continued to build on their lead, beating Maccabi 119-102.

Barbosa scored a game-high 27 points, including five treys and six assists. Markus Banks, the former Minnesota Timberwolves guard and the Sun's new backup for Nash, chipped in 21 points of his own. Stoudemire, still recovering from last season's knee surgery, managed only 10 points.

The Suns beat both Europeans teams they played on the tour, Lottomatica Roma and Maccabi, and lost 103-100 to the Philadelphia 76ers.

Later Wednesday, the Philadelphia 76ers beat CSKA Moscow 85-71 for first place in the tournament.

Curious -- both Lior Eliyahu and Yotam Halperin were given very serious looks by teams in the last NBA draft; supposedly the Suns were considering Halperin in particular as a possible fit. Anyone who was able to watch the game -- how did they look?

The game is being replayed right now on NBAtv. If you don't get NBAtv normally, you can watch it via the TVU player.
