Suns made the mistake in trading Marcus instead of Tucker. Most useless starter in the NBA.

I just can't stand this "hack a player" defense. I know it's been going on for years and yes, I agree that guys should be better at free throws, but this completely ruins basketball for me. I will never stop disliking it, when ANY team does it.

Detroits last few possessions are something like this:
Make 3pts
Make
Foul (missed Ft)
Foul (missed Ft)
Foul (missed Ft)
Make 2+1
Make 3pt

Can't get a stop without fouling :(

Marcus Morris with 20/6/6.

He's improved his game under Van Gundy. He himself has credited Van Gundy quite a bit this season as well.

What the heck is the suns offrense? At the end of the game it looked like they were just hoping for Morris to bail them out with a long two.

Funny so he has played well in 5 games lol we will see who is the better team further into the season way to early to judge. He is a classless player though and I think if the Suns can get a deal they like they have no issue with parting with the second Morris as well.

Looks like he had a point about being upset over not starting here though over Tucker.

I don't think he's played well really but he has outplayed Tucker. I think he did that last year too but we seem locked into PJ for some reason. I miss the PJ of 2 years ago but the PJ of last year and now leaves much to be desired. Marcus is playing like he deserves to start but he's nothing special. And he needs to pull up his big boy pants and move on.

Iso, iso and more iso. When they actually run a play on the rare occasion, guys like Tucker pass up on the wide open shot and give it right back to one of the guards.

One of the BSOTS members was live tweeting at the game and it was on point imo

Suns should be better than this. They have the talent, but they seem to be lacking the discipline & IQ to make the right play at right time.

Not enough players on the Suns consistently playing to their strengths. Not enough established and clearly defined roles...very much in flux.

Suns are lacking more than just veteran leadership...that isn't the problem. They still lack an identity and an understanding of how to win.

It's the GM's fault. It's the Coach's fault. It's the GM's fault. It's the Coach's fault. What does it matter to Suns fans? They were both unproven and still are.

Show them the door and let's see the Suns run as a professional organization. We need a Tony LaRussa type to come in and build a team, if Sarver has the guts to do it.

I agree but still not convinced that McDonough deserves the blame he has accepted. Most of his deals have appeared to be good ones until the players were coached by Hornacek.

Hornacek blamed the players for the loss, again. It seems as though he has done that after every loss.

When does he become responsible for the lack luster effort and piss poor execution that this team has displayed over the past two years?

This team is unwatchable and has been under the current management group. Something has to give.

I expect fans don't even care anymore and expect very little from this group. I really see very little future for this team. I hope I am wrong.

This is while Booker continues to sits. A player capable of shooting the ball and willing to share it. I remember posters complaining about MDA not playing rookies. He never had any rookie as good as Booker appears to be.

Oh my. If Marcus was still here, the Morris brothers would be ruling this team. There is more to it than Marcus>PJ.

Agreed. I don't care if Marcus averages 17 a game. He was a cancer and a POS and he and Markieff fed off each other in very negative ways.

You make some good points. I think McDonough has done a good job of a assembling the right players for the Suns to win. Also sitting Booker is rather old school when the Suns need shooting. At some point Hornacek can no longer blame the players.

I have no problem with him pointing out the problems with the players, it's not like it's not right there in front of us. And I'm not sure McDonough has assembled the right players.

He's increased our talent base considerably but it's not clear (to me, at least) that the pieces all fit together. I hope they do but I worry about our lack of shooting and the absence of an inside game. I don't see how we survive both. Getting all these pieces to fit together is obviously Jeff's job but I also think it's unreasonable to expect it to have occurred straight out of the gate. I'm in wait and see mode. But I can't help but think we have either the wrong pair of forwards or the wrong set of guards.

We do not have any choice but to remain in a wait and see mode but I'm not feeling good about the Suns. Last season was a turning door personnel wise and at least two players wanted out (Dragic and IT), likely more. Of course the Morris twins have had their problems with the Suns as well but they created part of their problems.

My primary concern is I do not like the way the Suns play, especially on offense. I believe more shooting at the SF and SG positions would help but as Cotton used to say, you can never have enough shooters. One player that might help, Devin Booker, is sitting on the bench. I can't help but think a different coaching might yield better results with the same players.

Its absolutely ugly. I never thought our offense would be this tough to watch after Nash left but wow.

The Suns are the NBA's 5th worst team in the NBA in assists. 5TH WORST.

We've been ranked among the dead last the last two years as well, I just don't understand why Hornacek and the Suns don't figure out a way in the off season to implement a better offense.

And no, its not about not having Curry or Rubio or Wall on the team. Atlanta is ranked 2nd in the NBA in assists and they don't have some passing maestro on their team...its a team effort and something that former Spurs coach Budenholzer implemented into their team. Suns have to follow suit.

We don't have the talent or the superstars to win consistently by ball hogging.

Problem is the personnel. There isn't a single facilitator on the team. Bledsoe is defacto point guard. and while he's done better this year than last, he is not a play maker/ facilitator. I am not sure if Knight is any better, but he seems to be suffering from the "Dragic syndrome"- playing out of position. Tucker is one of my favorite players in the league, but he is a "3 and D" guy. He is not a Grant Hill/ Andre Igoudala type.
Morris rarely passes the ball. He used to pass to Marcus, but outside of that, he doesn't pass, let alone facilitate and make plays for others. I love Chandler, but he is a defender/ rebounder, and not a play maker.

You can even go to the bench, and there isn't a facilitator/ play maker/ passer on there either.

Suns (and we, for that matter) can hope that Bledsoe and/or Knight figure something out and become competent, but that's pretty much it. I'd play Booker, Warren, and Leuer a lot more, but even that isn't going to fix the guard situation.

This roster is such a mess that I don't even know how you go about "fixing" it.
