Also per the Paul Coro article at azcentral dated 7-24-14 the Suns plan to have 14 guaranteed contracts for training camp.

Without Christmas, the Suns expect to have 14 guaranteed contracts for training camp with the addition of first-round picks T.J. Warren and Tyler Ennis and the expectation that they will re-sign restricted free agent Eric Bledsoe. With a league roster maximum of 15 for opening night, the Suns now have space for training camp free agents to compete for a job or the flexibility to add a player through free agency or trade.

I agree. The Suns would be better off picking up another big man prospect with the money or another player whom they have interest.

I drive a cab for a living, I've picked him up twice and took him to practice, seemed like a real nice guy, I was hoping he panned out.

I don't think the problem was with Christmas. The Suns need to look at players who may eventually be an upgrade. Also I wonder if the Suns have plans for Alec Brown.

He had his chance last year, and really didn't show much in it. It sucks, because I really liked him and wanted to see him succeed. He was advertised as 3 point shooter with a smooth stroke, and streak shooters often flourish in our offense. I wish him the best, but this was inevitable with all the guards on the roster.

Alec Brown is hurt, isn't he? I think he was our "Frye" insurance, and now we are stuck with a bigger hole up front then we expected, hence our name being attached to more random bigmen lately.

I think Alec Brown is just a future prospect for a stretch 4 or 5. I do not believe a late second rounder would qualify as "Frye" insurance. However, I would like to see him get the opportunity. I haven't heard anything new about his reported dislocated shoulder.

By the way, welcome aboard Phoenix219. It is always good to have new posters.

Thanks, happy to be here. :)

Unfortunately, he's having surgery and will miss about 3 months, last I heard.

2nd rounder or not, I wouldn't be surprised to see him get some experience as a stretch 4 backing up Kieff, which is why I believe it is possible that Frye's departure coupled with the shoulder injury may have us looking into more size. I just hope we will be able to properly space the floor this season - Frye was an extremely under rated part of our success, IMO.

Thanks for the update about his injury. I hope the Suns find a way to keep him on their roster. I found this link below.

Just hit the Happy Birthday threads, it's a great way to pad the count. And welcome to the board.

Too bad they didn't give him another year. Gonna miss his enthusiasm, controlled play and shooting threat. Nice guy to have on the roster. The 3rd string players should always be able to shoot.

He was a great cheerleader and you couldn't ask for a more supportive presence on the bench. I think he'll actually be missed although I understand why we're letting him go. If he doesn't latch on somewhere else I could see him returning sometime.

Thank Goodness. Now if the Suns do not acquire a Holiday, we might be alright.

On a serious note, Holiday would be a good pick up.

But it would be political correctness--going from Christmas to Holiday.

If you saying it would be politically correct to go from Christmas right to the Holidays (Jrue or Justin), it sounds right especially if we include Noel as BC867 suggests.

I need to stop as I am getting as bad as Steve Albert.
