The Suns got a 2nd look at Koufas today along with Jordon and some Euro. Shumate mentioned that Jordon is a few years away. He said Koufas may have an offer from Europe but he is an interesting player. Reading between the lines I think they are intrigued by Koufas ability to shoot the ball and get up and down the court.

I hope if they decide to go big first they select him over Lopez. I think Koufas has a much more potential than Robin Lopez. Just my opinion.

I would take him over Lopez unless the Suns think Lopez is immediately better than Brian Skinner, but what's the point of him being tall if his hard-to-block outside shot is not that great and he doesn't get many boards?

I thought selecting a big man who can't rebound was a D'Antoni thing. :p

Very strange, these several big men r late first rounders, around 20 in most of mock draft. All of them r very raw, not ready for NBA, and also come with high risk. Why the hell do we work them out so many times? I heard we r trading up, not down ...

I've noticed that as of the last 2 days you are hearing more and more from the Suns brass that they would be happy with the 15th pick. I think they are preparing the fans for 'we found nobody that we liked enough to trade up for' I think the trading up is all hype and nothing more.

Maybe they are thinking of trading their pick next year for a mid-twenties pick to nab one of these guys or Chalmers? Haven't heard anything of the sort though. Griffin seems to like this draft, so who knows.

It wouldn't surprise me since they have done it in the past (the supposed charlotte deal), unfortunately if this happends and they sell the pick or trade down then I am out for at least the next 2 years as far as watching the suns. There is only so much spin bs and failed hope you can take you know..

If we dont trade at all, at #15 the best pick for us is Brandon Rush, who is very much NBA ready, a winner, gives exactly what we need at 2/3.

Our window for contention is at most next 2 years. What's the point to waste a mid-pick in a deep draft on some1 who is 2 or 3 years away??

I don't think they will sell their pick. With all the criticism they have taken for doing that in the past several drafts, to sell the pick would be a very, very stupid thing to do from a public
relations standpoint let alone not a very wise team decision. I will stick with my theory that they are preparing the Suns fans for not moving up and just taking picks 15 and 48.

Incidentally I don't think Rush will be there at 15.

We can't trade next years pick since we traded this years and 2010's.

A couple teams are rumored to be shopping their picks in the bottom half of the 1st round. I'm guessing this has something to do with that. If the Suns managed to get Rush at #15, would it be out of the realm of possibility to trade Alando Tucker for a #20-30 pick? I think some teams would be tempted by that.

I get the feeling that the Blazers may be trying to bluff the Suns into a less attractive deal than has been reported by threatening to take Rush. The Koufos thing MIGHT just be a bluff on Kerr's part.

It is hard to determine if the Blazers were to make a deal with the Clippers or the Grizzlies would change who gets picked.

I doubt they are threatening to take Rush. Everyone who says they are taking Rush are also dishing out reasons as to why they are probably selling it. An off the record pacifier that they are trading the pick to us seems like a better reason you see Rush at 13 than a threat bluff...

Yes.

In what possible way is Tucker more desirable than a late first-round pick in the current draft? Nobody wants Tucker.

The Suns could, however, buy a late pick outright.

Tucker was a 1st round pick last year and put up big numbers in the D-league. It's a possibility.

You DO have a sense of humor. Sarver buying picks! :)

Seriously, there is a remote chance of getting an early 2nd rounder using the #48, a future 2nd, and some money. Moving up into the early 2nd round would make a huge difference in the quality of guys available But I doubt we are talking about a lot of cash. Remeber who wriites the checks.

The that Koufos reminds me the most of is Lampe. He was a great workout guy with the most beautiful jump shot you ever saw. Unfortunately, Lampe couldn't play NBA basketball and failed even in summer league.

As a former Buckeye, I wish koufos well but based on what I saw of him, he's just not the kind of physical guy the Suns need.

Maybe Lampe but I think more of a weaker version of Brad Miller. He has ZERO vert and that's going to be an issue IMO.

We can't trade next years pick since we traded this years and 2010's.

Trading this years 'own' pick plays no role - the rule is that you can't put yourself in a position on not having a first round draft pick in two consecutive future years. It doesn't matter whether the pick is your own or not and since we have a first rounder this year we're covered.

Of course, we can't trade next years pick because of 2010 unless we get hold of someone's 1st rounder in 2009 or 10.

Yeah like someone would just sell a pick and get nothing but cash in return.
