According to the Wall Street Journal, the NFL is considering three candidates to provide entertainment at the 2015 Super Bowl: Katy Perry, Coldplay, and Rihanna.

And when reaching out to these artists, the NFL reportedly asked if any of the acts “would be willing to contribute a portion of their post-Super Bowl tour income to the league, or if they would make some other type of financial contribution, in exchange for the halftime gig.” Apparently, the stars’ representative did not take kindly to the idea.

Pretty stupid IMO. All 3 of these artists are very famous and don't at all need the SB to promote themselves.

A few thoughts:

1. Too bad Wierd Al didn't make the cut.
2. The NFL greed is pretty out of control
3. I hope it is Coldplay. The other two suck.

I gave up on the halftime shows. Won't be watching any more of those unless there is a rock band that I have heard of. Just can't get into the music my fifteen year old listens to.

I think I am going to the game. Audience participation is mandatory for TV, so I will have to sit their and have my ears assaulted if it is Katy Perry or Rihanna. I can tolerate Cold Play.

Who the hell watches halftime for the music. I for one would love it to be Katy perry and Rihanna. Preferably making out with each other. [emoji57]

The host city should have some say or it should be an artist that is from the area or reflects the area, IMHO. Why not a country star like Dierks Bentley? He is an Arizona native.

If I go to the game - I am going out to the regular halftime meeting place. LOL

Because nobody knows who Dierks Bentley is?

They oughta put the performance rights on eBay. That would be awesome.

That is not the point, people who watch the game will have it on anyway. It's all about attacting viewers who do not watch the game and may leave the channel on after the show has concluded.

More people, more ratings, more advertising $$$$$ for the NFL the next season.

This is why this move to get a peice of the artist's revenue post SB is so outrageous.

Their perogative, just like with commercials they air - is to target non football fans. Football fans are already watching, if they can get more non football fans to watch they make more money.

its like medical pot stores advertising to stoners. Stoners are coming anyway, advertise to the non stoners and reach new demographics instead.
