Supergirl (CBS)

Greg Berlanti's 'Supergirl' Lands at CBS With Series Commitment

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/supergirl-lands-at-cbs-series-734268

Greg Berlanti and Ali Adler's Supergirl has a home: CBS.

CBS has landed the high-profile DC Comics adaptation, handing out a hefty series commitment, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

The hourlong drama, taken out last week, centers on Kara Zor-El, Superman's cousin, who was born on the planet Krypton and escaped amid its destruction years ago. Since arriving on Earth, she has been hiding the powers she shares with her famous cousin. But now at age 24, she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be. (The character was previously played by Laura Vandervoort on The CW's Superman origin story Smallville.)

It won't last. Shows like this very rarely make it on major networks. I am hoping all the cable shows, streaming services (Netflix and Amazon) are putting pressure on major networks to give these shows more of a shot but I doubt it.

I would much rather have seen this show go to a streaming service, the CW or other cable channel. Investing yourself in a network show these days only to get it yanked out from under you seriously sucks!

The Flash should have but it was sabotaged by the network putting it up against The Cosby Show and giving it an 8:30pm start time.

Dean Cain, Helen Slater Join ‘Supergirl’ Pilot

http://deadline.com/2015/02/dean-cain-helen-slater-cast-supergirl-1201383005/

CBS is drawing from the DC Comics superhero TV and film universe for the latest additions to its Supergirl pilot. Dean Cain, who played Clark Kent/Superman in the 1990s TV series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures Of Superman, and Helen Slater, who played Kara Zor-El/Supergirl in the 1984 film Supergirl, are set to guest star in what is described only as “mystery roles.”

Looks like The Devil Wear Latex.

Not really my bag, but like Ken said, girls need superheroes too.

My girls and I just watched the pilot.Daughter is hooked. The wife and I think it's pretty decent for a "light" hero show. I prefer Daredevil but I can see it's appeal. This is better than some previous attempts at hero shows that's for sure. I think it might have a chance.

Where did you see the pilot? Everything I see says it premiers in October.

I should have been more clear, I had it scheduled on the DVR but know that it leaked online and was wondering if anyone had watched the online leak yet.

Yup, most of the characters were terrible. Had a hard time finishing the first episode. I am one and done.

Tried to watch the On-Demand, and it was standard def. They lost me right then and there. Doesn't sound like I missed much, so good work CBS.

it plummeted in the ratings since losing the Big Bang lead in.

It goes too far into absurdity. Oh and awful, awful villains.

The text convo with Superman was just hilariously bad. So funny, like showgirls level of unintentional comedy. Superman uses emojiis. :p
