Is the term "swarming defense" something that applies only to small ball teams like the Suns and Warriors? What is the term used for the type of defense that teams like the Mavericks and Spurs play?

Wow, the "semi permeable/ no defense" works better in every measure. the suns are better defensively in FG% allowed(15th in nba) than the warriors(20th), better at 3pt defense, better at scoring defense. I guess crime(prison rules) doesnt pay. The suns FG% defense is actually better than the spurs. I guess the spurs play "popaflop" defense.

The Suns lead the league in points per shot against. Their defense is actually quite good. The rebounding sucks.

Edit: Rebounding is part of defense but I think it's important to separate the two anyways.

It depends.......if the refs are letting players mug each other without calling fouls then the Warriors defense is better because the refs let them create a lot of steals (like they did against Dallas last year in the playoffs). It doesn't matter though because no one actually believes the Suns play good defense despite statistics.

Popovich says the opposite, that the suns are closing out shooters better than in the past. this year the suns %FG's abd % 3 pt defense is better than it has been in a while and both are better than the spurs.

Popovich also said that the Suns rebounding is better this season than last which is pretty clearly a load of crap.
