The Valley so low.
The profiles of these two players seem pretty clear. Thomas is a precisionist. He does what it takes to be successful; he studies his craft; he doesn't get excited, just goes out and plays very well. A couple of months ago, he was rated as one of the can't-miss picks--maybe not the most raw talent, but the best professional player.

Brown is more of a man-child--the comparison to LD is very apt. He might do great on the old Raiders. The cards will do very well with Thomas. I'm very glad every time a story like this comes out--the idea that he's dropping helps us (unless the Cards fall for an LD again).

That being said, the big question is, IF we trade down (bad idea, I think now), do we go down to where we can get Brown or go down further to where we can take Staley? All moves down are dangerous, of course--if our target is gone, the alternatives are both bad fits and worse players (?). But if Brown is really LD, should we plot to bypass him? I would not wait till Round 2, in any event--talent drops off a lot after Staley, especially the talent to handle speed rushers. Marten apparently is not a good fall-back option.
