From what I know it went from "back strain" to Gronk seeing some out of state specialist for the surgery. There were rumors it was the same guy who worked on Urlacher's neck. This stuff has all been pretty secretive, but I would say his pro do will be more telling. If he has disclosed what the surgery was somewhere, it would be news to me. But, his physical abilities and hand skills are a rare combo at TE, and I would say it is definitely a better risk to take than thinking Olsen will suddenly learn how to block.
To me, that sounds like it could be pretty bad. Usually, the more secretive it is, the more serious it is. I hope he's OK and i'm sure the NFL has to know what the prognosis is. I guess we'll all know on draft day if he drops, or not.

I kind of agree, but I certainly would think that using our later 3rd round pick on him if he is still available is a reasonable risk if we have hit our defensive needs with the 3 picks before that, which we should be able to do (one NT and two LB)

I can agree that taking him with the later 3rd round pick if he is available wouldnt be a bad idea. With what he showed in his short time at UofA being nothing short of great. I dont think a late 3rd round would really cost that much to take a chance on a guy that might have a long career.
