According to Sommers blog -

"The Cardinals now have a policy of not commenting on reports of them asking for permission to interview other coaches, or on other teams asking to interview their coaches. "

So we wont know for sure if any reports at all are true or not true. Its just a waiting game and wont be wringing my hands on any reports from here on out considering the Cards wont comment on anything and we wont know if any report is true or not.

Well, this needs done. Like, yesterday. We don't have the time in the offseason to move like molasses this year. We must make crisp, fast, smart decisions, or we're screwed.

Whiz has probably guaged Butler's interest...and it may be that Butler indeed wants to stay in Pittsburgh, thus making the permission to talk to him moot.

What concerns me about the in-house candidates, LB coach Billy Davis and DB coach Teryl Austin is how inconsistent and fundamentally flawed their units have been the past two years.

I also said in an earlier post that an outside coach with a background in the 3-4 would likely boost the confidence and enthisiasm of the defense...whereas an in-house hiring could signal to the players more of the same.

Well regardless of what Somers quotes right there we know that Graves commented and answered Urbans question. Urban outright stated that he said that have not recieved or asked for permission. Thus makes the teams policy moot.

I used to make fun of my wife for watching soap operas. Now I know why she enjoys them so much. I have no idea what will happen this offseason with the Cardinals.

Will Anquan Boldin fall in love with the Front Office again?

Will Dansby cheat on the Cards with another team?

Will Simeon Rice be risen from the dead?

Who will be Whisenhunts new right hand man on Defense?

Will the Cardinals bring in some new sexy FA?

Juicy stuff I tell you.

:grabs:

Very funny. Especially since I met your wife and know she is an engineer too.

LOL no, but I feel like I should be :D I mean, this is the time of year that I should be flipping out, but there's nothing to flip out about! Argh lol

Seriously, though, I hope everything is indeed happening behind closed doors, because it needs to happen soon. I'm sure it is.

Where is this Graves quote or answer to an Urban question. Dont see one on his blog or his recent articles.

The only thing Urban has done is report what another report was saying.

"Contradicting a report out there from earlier this week, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is reporting the Cards not only have not gotten permission to talk to Steelers LB coach Keith Butler but haven't even asked for said permission. Does that mean an in-house candidate -- current LB coach Bill Davis in all probability, or maybe DB coach Teryl Austin -- is a lock?"

Unless I missed it?

Your rigth for some reason I was combining that with the quotes on boldin.

However Urban is the teams reporter and is payed by the Cards. If it was a hard and fast rule not to comment on such thing I have a strange feeling that Urban wouldnt report such a thing. He would just say nothing. Obviously he is getting his info from someone inside the organization.

I dont think thats true though. He also reported about us having premission to talk to him. So which one is it. Urban isnt saying anything, all he is doing is reporting on what other people are reporting.

I dunno I guess we could go in circles on this. But he didnt quote another source. He just said that teh initial report is contadicted and didnt say where he got the info. Thats what leads me to believe its from inside thus technically not breaking the rule.

I heard that on Sirius as well. Timing just might not be right then for Butler to come on over if he cant be here to put in the time to help with free agency, the draft, and mini camps.

MJ also stated that Carthon wants nothing to do with being an OC again. The Browns stint left a bad taste in his mouth. So not only will he not be our next OC most likely but he also wont be going to KC to be theres. So if the rumor is right thats one less position we will have to replace.

He quoted and put in a link to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette as his source.

The fact that they haven't named a DC yet worries me.
If it indeed comes from in house, wouldn't they already know/announce it?

If they pick someone from within the organization, and we hear about it in a week or two.. That tells me we coveted someone else, but didn't land him.

MJ said Butler wants the job but that it might not work out. I think once he has a day or 2 to recover from the surgery we'll hear something.

Are you sure it was Butler who had hip surgery?

I thought it was Romeo Crennel who is having hip surgery.

you know, I might be totally out there and I'm probably way out there but something tells me that the Cardinals really want Boldin on this team and are going to throw a very big contract offer at him which will make everyone say "how can a team pay two WRs such big money" and with a contract offer that big...trust me Boldin will see it, taste it and smell it even if he says he does not want to see any offers from the Cardinals :)
