I was at the fan fest yesterday with my wife, and parents who were in town visiting. My parents are not sports fans in the least but of course they will go just about anywhere with their grandkids.
So as we are walking around after getting my daughter a cheerleader autograph, I see Kwamie Lassiter walking with his family. I tell my mother (after talking about current players) that he used to play. I didn't mention his name. She has no idea who he is.
She then tells me to go get his autograph. I tell her I don't do that. I don't chase grown men for their autograph especially when they are with their family.
My 62 year old mother chases him down and asks him for his autograph. She tells him "you still number one in our book." Among other things. He sheepishly says thank you and she hands him a pen that doesn't write. Kwamie almost embarrassingly asks another person for a pen and proceeds to autograph the stadium map we had. My mother asks the guy that gave him the pen "do you know who he is?" "The guy responds "no!?" My mother to Kwamie "tell him who you are!" Because she sure as hell didn't know.
I was dying laughing inside. "GOD Bless you" she says and walks away.
She tells me later. "That made that mans day." I ask why she thinks that. She goes "didn't you see the smile on his wife and children's faces!?" He'll be the man at home telling his wife how he still got it. Lol.
She also said "notice his wife didn't have a problem with me getting his autograph." "The key is old women and babies...they are no threat!"
Haha!
