Most of the Tennessee Titans’ braintrust was back in Nashville on Wednesday continuing their pre-draft preparations. This includes hosting some prospects for a Top 30 visit.

According to a social media post, the Titans hosted Iowa running back Kaleb Johnson at their facility on Wednesday.

The Titans' potential addition of a running back is not new. Head coach Brian Callahan discussed adding a back with a different skill set during the NFL combine, and Johnson fits that bill.

A big-bodied running back at 6-foot-1, 225 pounds, Johnson is an explosive runner with the potential to be a feature back in the NFL. He has shown a combination of vision, cutting ability, and power throughout his career and would be a perfect fit in a one-cut power running scheme. While he may not be an accomplished receiving threat, it is an area that he has improved on throughout college, making him a legitimate three-down option.

The Titans already have Tony Pollard, Tyjae Spears, and Julius Chestnut, but they could definitely add to the room, and Johnson would be a tremendous asset. The biggest issue is draft capital. In a deep running back class, he projects near the top. He is clearly ticketed to be a Top 50 pick with most analysts having a strong second-round grade on him because of his combination of size, speed, and production against top-tier competition.

The Titans only have two picks on the first two days of the draft after trading away their 2025 third-round pick for cornerback L’Jarius Sneed last offseason. With giant needs at quarterback, wide receiver and edge, it is extremely unlikely that Johnson would be available when they pick in the fourth round.

Johnson would undoubtedly help upgrade the offense and add a different dimension, but without a trade to improve draft capital, his chances of ending up in Nashville are slim.
