Much has changed.

http://screenrant.com/terminator-5-kyle-reese-jai-courtney/

Reboot rather than a prequel or sequel.

Justin Lin is directing.

Arnold in it in some capacity - as the Terminator or as the human that inspired the machine in some way (according to speculation on sites).

Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones) is Sarah Connor.

Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty) is John Connor.

Jai Courtney (A Good Day to Die Hard) is Kyle Reese

more has changed in the above. Justin Lin ain't directing. Alan Taylor is.

Updated to show that Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World) is now directing.

calling a the Terminator a "low budget horror flick" or a "cheese horror flick" or saying that it's not as good as we remember it being is trashing it IMO. That wasn't just some cult classic that people loved cause it was Arnold as a bad guy. That was a critically acclaimed sci-fi film that was way ahead of it's time and brilliant story-telling.

it's tomameter rating on Rotten Tomatoes was 100%. Cheese horror flicks don't get that kind of rating on that site. Hell, NO movie gets that rating on that site for the most part unless it's brilliant.

I enjoyed t1 but I saw t2 first and when going back to t1, it appeared as a low budget horror flick.

Thats not a bash, a lot of my favorite movies are actually low budget horror flicks

PS, when I said it seemed like a low budget horror flick, I watched it AFTER seeing T2 in theaters. When you watch a 7 year old movie following a high budget blockbuster, that is an easy impression to come away with.

I guess I already said this a long time ago!

I think "Alan Taylor (Game of Thrones)" is a more apt description, although Thor wasn't a bad directing job either.

i was surprised at how much I was let down by Thor 2. it was pretty mediocre. expect more from Taylor.

Yes, but was that Taylor's fault? He can only work with the script he gets. My guess is that since he's a first-time director in the Marvel universe, he might not have had as much power over the script as he (and we) would have liked.

In this particular case, I don't want a wholesale reboot. I would prefer they somehow mix in an alteration in the timeline like the TV Series did. It's a way to reboot things without total disregard to what came before it.

met the camera operator last weekend...it's basically a reboot. lots of time travel...even some parts of the movie going back to the 1950's. and Arnie is only supposed to be cameo-ish.

When you say basically a reboot do you mean what I am suggesting or a reboot with disregard to what came before it. If that is the case, I am going to pass.

According to AICN, the reboot will be in the vein of Star Trek. I guess I am back in now. LOL. A complete disregard to the previous films I would not have been on board with.

yeah, from what I've been reading, somehow, it's going to be a time travel movie that goes back to moments in T1/T2/Sarah's childhood. How the hell they pull that kind of thing off, I have no idea.

It should be interesting. I mean if they do this right...they could reset time frames, adjust for the fact that we have no passed some events (in real life) that never happened etc.

They alluded to this in the last film when John Conner was listening to the tapes of Sarah and mentioned that some events didn't unfold they way she led him to believe or something like that. Which indicates in this world you can change things.

I'll be surprised if they even treat the last film as cannon...or even the two previous films as cannon. by going back in time, they can pretty much ignore everything that happened after T2.

I wonder what time frame they will travel back to? My guess it would have to predate even T1 & T2 since the dates even in that movies no longer make sense. They are no longer accurate.

Crazy having a reboot with Arnold in it. Aren't reboots supposed to change all actors? Just like Total Recall, Batman, SuperMan?

Perhaps he's there in the same way that Leonard Nimoy appeared in the Star Trek reboot?

Yea didn't think of that. If his appearance is similar to Nimoy, then it could work.
