Changed my mind and deleted the reply I originally posted here. Devils fans shouldn't fight, but please never question my fanhood again. I've been going to multiple ASU games every year since 1977. I've got two degrees from the place and I conduct research there right now. Thirty-eight years of rooting for ASU and you are the first person ever to talk crap about my level of fanhood. I've decided that the source of that criticism isn't worth getting mad over.

Go Devils! :sparky:

That's cool, my bad.

Didn't mean to question your fanhood at all, just a case of mistaken identity on my part! So no worries.

I am an ASU grad as well, but wasn't smart enough to get into ASU for my J.D. so went elsewhere. Sounds like we started following ASU football about the same time, though I mostly listened on the radio and could hear the fireworks after each TD outside. My first memory of an ASU game in person was watching John Elway play at Sun Devil Stadium, awesome game.

And your school isn't worth many things beyond proper capitalization of letters and abbreviations.

However, once again, you need some education here. Try "University of Arizona." au is "Auburn University." No one cares that you don't know how to use a shift key or caps lock, just try to get the names and the orientation of the letters correct.

That is all. At least you tried, aj.

"au" equals "arizona university" and "AU" equals "Auburn University". I typed that very slowly so you could keep up this time.

I remember that game as well. Elway made some throws I just couldn't believe a human could make. Lots of great memories over the years, and some painful ones too. Sadly, yesterday's game brought back too many memories of previous painful losses to the au spayedcats. Probably why I was so damn grouchy when I made that post last night.

Sorry on my part too.

Please. You're the one who is in dire need of special assistance, seeing as you don't know how to capitalize or orient letters and can't comprehend even when basic topics are bulleted for your convenience.

But by all means--keep posting. I have more clown suits I can put on you.

Again. At least you tried.

I don't respect your school. At all. Hence, "au" is "arizona university". Surely you can understand that, right? Once again, typing very, very slowly for you so maybe you can get it this time and go away.

It's always going to be "au" to me and I don't give two rips what you, or anyone else, thinks about it.

Ohhhhh man the bitterness is FLOWING in this thread.

Pac 12 South Champs! Was a good game but glad it ended how it did. Was nervous after Berco came in.

Feels good to be better at basketball AND football!

This stems from the Penn State game back in 1998.

Typical basic ASU jokes only a 3rd grade boy could love.... "Dick Rod"...."Kitty's" ..."Tucson Sucks"

Who writes your guys material? Beavis and Butthead?

Well, last year I told the U of A fans there is always next year. The same applies to ASU now I guess. We've won 2 out of 3 in the Graham era and hopefully it will be 3 out of 4 next year.

Will be great to see how our D looks with 9 starters returning next year. I suspect they will be giving up a lot less big plays and will have a better season. Berco will be the unquestioned starter, 82 will have other things to post about (lol), we'll have a more seasoned backfield, Lauderdale will be in the WR mix, Hayes will upgrade our return game, and we'll have another epic Territorial Cup battle in 2015 and can all continue the trash talking! I hope and expect ASU will come out on top next time.

I know, I know, Solomon, Wilson, Neal, etc. will be back next year too, bla bla bla... but still ...

I'm not joking. Where did I say anything that is an attempt to be funny?

For me, it goes back to 1992, the only time I've ever seen a game in Tucson, and we won 7-6. I was spit on in the parking lot after the game.

A group of about 8 au fans were walking about 10 feet behind me and my friend. they were yelling profanities, calling us ****, etc. Well, I'm 6'4" 250 and my friend is 6'6" and 225. Two guys in au shirts are walking the other direction, towards us. When they get close, one guy hocks up a bunch of spit and spits all over me. Then, they make the mistake of laughing and walking past me. I guess they thought if they got to the big group behind us nothing would happen. I turn around, grab the guy by the neck of his shirt and by the top of his pants and I throw him as hard as I could to the right. Unfortunately for him, the first part of his body to hit was his face on the bumper of a car. By the shape of his nose and the amount of blood that was pouring from it I'm sure I shattered it. None of the puxxies there did anything about it, just watched the guy start to cry and blubber trying to spit the blood out of his mouth. We just walked off and went home.

So I hate your school because:

1. I hate being spit on.

and

2. I hate hurting people.

It was one of the worst moments of my sports life as a fan or an athlete.

I'm not sure how "typing very slowly" is going to help anyone but yourself. Perhaps you struggle to type more than 15 words per minute?

At any rate, if switching the orientation of the letters and lower-casing them helps you sleep at night, by all means. Just understand that it's arguably one of the dumbest jabs that any ASU fan has ever attempted to deliver.

I am aware of its origin; the Penn State scoreboard mishap. That was done by an ignorant scoreboard attendant. Do you really want to associate yourself with that kind of ignorance? Because if you choose to call it "au", then that's the unavoidable consequence you bring upon yourself.

I don't care if you respect the University of Arizona or not. Obviously, I don't care much for ASU; yet, I've somehow managed to co-exist with Sun Devils in this thread and have had fruitful discussions about the game. It's rather unfortunate you had to spoil things by pulling the whole "au" garbage out of the bottom of the barrel.

Hey; if a misguided, minimum wage scoreboard attendant can't get the visiting team's name right due to his/her own ignorance, it must be a great idea for smack talk!!

I honestly don't remember anything about Penn State and au. I'm sure I never watched that game as I don't care for either team. I started the "au" thing in 1992 if you read the post above yours.

I didn't completely get the idea on my own. I grew up around the Aggies-Longhorns rivalry and went to school at A&M for three years before I transferred. Aggies always referred to the Austin school as "tu". It annoys Longhorn fans just as au annoys you. And I can tell it annoys you as you just can't seem to let it go. It's good to know something so small and trivial can get you annoyed enough to try and rebut it three different times.

I hope au gets blitzed by Oregon and loses their bowl game, but I won't watch either.

It doesn't annoy me personally as much as you wish it would. I honestly don't give a ****. It's just an easy opportunity to make a fool out of ASU fans who resort to using it; and judging by your responses, I've proven once again to be successful.

Nah, if it didn't bother you you wouldn't waste so much time on it. You do give a **** or you wouldn't have tried to teach me the etiquette on it twice.

I don't look bad at all for calling your school "au". Your attempts to make me a fool are lame as this is the internet and no one really cares about grammar retorts.

Let's see if you can restrain yourself from response #5 to something you don't give a **** about. Personally, I bet you can't.

When their only argument is two letters you've already won. Just saying.

In case you doubt the fact that I called your school "au" six years before the Penn State scoreboard did....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glossary_of_Texas_A&M_University_terms

scroll down to the letter "T" and you will see neither I, or the Penn State scoreboard operator were original in referring to a school in that way. I was an Aggie for three years before taking time off and enrolling in ASU when I did return to school.

I'm not arguing with the guy. That's what I call their school. It's weird that he is so sensitive about it.

Hey, we sucked yesterday and au handed us our asses and completed our choke job of blowing first place. So, none of you should be wasting time on this board. It's rare when au achieves something in football beyond beating ASU. You should be talking excitedly among yourselves about beating Oregon and playing in the Rose Bowl.

I don't go to the au board very much. When I do, I very rarely post.

Anyone who watched the game would tell you Arizona was the better team. Not that much better but still superior.

I thought the Cats were the better team before the game started. I saw nothing in the game to make me change my mind.

Totally, brah. After that perfectly executed ass kicking, you and your buddy defiled our cheerleaders in Lute Olson's hot tub while snorting a copious amount of illicit substances. Sharing your fighting stories over the internet always makes you sound bad ass. :p

I understand why you're so worked up; I'd be just as embarrassed as you if my life revolved around Tempe State Teachers College. To end on a positive note, I suggest you look at the bright side. You'll always have women's basketball.

Am I the only one who is wondering why ASU didn't call their last timeout? The clock didn't run after the 1st down kneel because of the penalty, Arizona's final kneel put them on 4th and 20 with like 15 seconds left, according to the TV visual ASU still had one time out. Sure, its long odds but my Wildcats punter is teeeeerrible, and ASU certainly has a legit deep threat.

It seemed like Graham either gave up prematurely or lost track of his timeouts... or the TV did.

I hate quoting myself but I think this post got lost in a rather caustic shuffle.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills here, SOMEONE has to have seen that ASU had a timeout to go, with UofA on 4th and a mile and 15 or so seconds left in the game.

They burned it before the personal foul was called. I suppose if they had waited several seconds they would have still had it but nobody has foresight to think our center was dumb enough to get a penalty.

I saw it. Wondered why they didn't use it.
Jody Jackson mentioned the time out on Twitter as well.

ASU already used that timeout after the personal foul penalty on the kneel down. FOX forgot to take it off the score.

Got it.

Thanks for the responses. I was watching it in a room of ASU and UofA fans so there was much arguing going on when the flag came out and I never heard or saw any sign of the timeout getting burned.
