High level sources in multiple conferences have told KCTV5 that Texas and Texas A&M are looking to move to the Big Ten Conference and have petitioned for membership, while the University of Oklahoma is planning on petitioning the Southeastern Conference to become a member of its conference.
KCTV5's sources said that Texas and Texas A&M do not have to include Texas Tech or Baylor in their plans. Sources told KCTV5 that there have already been discussions about the two schools entering the Big Ten and that the agreement could be made as soon as Thursday.
Oklahoma is currently working on petitioning to enter the SEC, but must find another university to enter the league with them, sources said. TMZ Sports has reported that Oklahoma State is likely to accept a bid to move to the Pac-10. Earlier Thursday, Colorado accepted an invitation to join the Pac-10.
KCTV5's sources also said that some Big 12 officials are saying decisions on which deals Big 12 schools take invitations by the end of the day Thursday, although the deals may not be officially announced. Big 12 officials also tell KCTV5's sources that some Big 12 office employees are planning to be without a job within weeks.
Those decisions would leave the University of Kansas, Kansas State University and the University of Missouri with Baylor, Texas Tech and Iowa State in the Big 12. The Missouri Board of Curators met Thursday and planned to meet Friday to discuss the future of Missouri sports.

Whoa... Larry Scott is supposed to be some sort of genius. It would be surprising to see him lose out on UT, A&M and OU! Man I hope this report is nothing but crap!!

Yeah, that would really blow up his plans. Leaving the Pac 10 to scramble to add at least one more team...

The PAC-10 would have their pick of Utah, Oklahoma St. or any number of teams. They won't need to "scramble".

Utah and Ok St. versus Texas, Texas A&M and Oklahoma??? The Pac-10 and Larry Scott will not be thrilled with that trade off!! Scott is supposedly a "TV guy". Not sure of his background but apparently he has had a career in the TV field. Grabbing the UT, A&M and OU was all about TV revenues... Suffice to say, Utah and Ok St. aren't in the same stratosphere.
And should UT and A&M jump to the SEC, it will only take more of the national focus away from the Pac-10 and place more on the already incredibly dominant SEC.
Make no mistake, this would be a tremendous, HUGE loss for the Pac-10 and Scott. Huge....

No, but I would think that the Pac-10 has some assurances that Texas and OU are coming or they wouldn't have invited Colorado already.

Unless CU/Utah is their fallback plan which is definitely disappointing compared to UT/OU.

A&M and UT means losing the Dallas and Houston markets. That would hurt the holy hell out of the PAC 10 and be a huge coup for the Big 10.

Texas A&M alone to the SEC makes no sense. Why would A&M want to split from Texas? Why would the SEC want A&M w/out Texas?

Seems like that scenario is a Gene Stallings pipe dream.

I would trust Chip Browns word over at orange blood over what KCTV 5 has to say. His sources are real and very accurate. He claims the big 10 rumor is false.

Get out from under Texas' shadow. They are the little brother. IN the SEC without Texas, they could use the SEC cachet to increase exposure.

Not to change topics or draw Gadd into a debate about the worthiness of print journalism, but orangebloods.com (the rivals.com outlet for UT-Austin) being ahead of every media outlet on this matter has been huge for "new media."

yup - absolutely right

Chip Brown was a former journalist with the main Dallas newspaper, and apparently decided to go solo

Doug & Wolf were joking with him when he was on that it was just a matter of time before ESPN offered him a sweet job

No argument here. I didn't know who Chip Brown was until last week, but my buds at the Rep say he was an excellent reporter at the DMN before jumping ship. His contacts at UT are impeccable.

So kudos to Rivals, but they had to go with a legit print guy to get there.

A&M wants to be out of Texas' shadow. The SEC will take A&M because it gets them into the Dallas and Houston markets. They have standing offers to A&M and Virginia Tech. Gets them TV markets.

As an Aggie, I just can't see it happening. Way too much of the mythology and tradition of the school revolves around the rivalry with tu. Hell, the fight song is all about beating Texas.

I guess leadership that is totally cold-hearted and logical could make the move. But, the average Aggie would have a stroke, unless the Texas game on an annual basis was as ironclad as possible.

If the PAC-10 gets Texas, who cares what A&M does? They can pound sand. Texas is ending up in the PAC or Big 10, no chance they go to the SEC.
