Yep, the Holiday Bowl has announced that ASU and Texas have accepted invitations which means that the Rose is taking Illinois.
Can someone please get the Rose Bowl selection committee out of the dark ages? USC vs. Illinois for the Rose Bowl? Because of Ohio State being in the championship game, the Rose Bowl had a free pick on who they wanted and they chose ILLINOIS!
What a joke
What - did you expect them to take Arizona State to play USC?
Illinois is just as deserving as ASU - actually, more deserving that ASU. Illinois beat the #1 team in the nation. ASU beat nobody. The only team with a winning record that ASU beat was Oregon State. Illinois beat 5 teams with winning records...

I honestly don't think anyone here expected ASU to be chosen for the Rose. I think they wanted the Rose committee to take some other team (like Kansas), put WVU in the Orange Bowl, and ASU in the Fiesta.
Which is just homerism, which I understand. ASU is at the same level as Illinois.
and Illinois had 3 losses. ASU had 2.
I'm not upset about Illinois over ASU.
I'm just upset at Illinois and Kansas getting in. Illinois doesn't deserve to be mentioned with USC. That should be the most lop-sided game.
Actually LSU-Ohio State doesn't look that good, and neither does Georgia-Hawaii.
And if they played in the Big 11 they'd again have two losses since the only team even close to the same level as a healthy Oregon and USC team in the Big 11 is Ohio State, and the Buckeyes are the worst of the 3. We also took care of business against inferior teams, unlike Illinois, losing to lowly Iowa. And if ASU played Missouri OOC instead of Colorado, they'd have 3 losses as well.....ASU lost to the only good teams they played.

Can someone please bump this when the Buckeyes and the Illini both get respectively trounced by USC and LSU?Big 10 >>> Pac 10. ASU would have lost to Wisconsin, Michigan and Penn State, as well as Illinois and Ohio State. ASU - 6th best team in the Big 10.
Voice of reason. Can someone please bump this when the Buckeyes and the Illini both get respectively trounced by USC and LSU?

Illinois lost with an injured QB, in crappy weather, in a close game.

Are you saying ASU should have gotten in over Kansas or some other team should have jumped them both?
ASU 2 losses, KU 1 loss
ASU ranked below Kansas in BCS
Neither team beat anyone of significance and both lost to the only good teams they've played so far.
\LOL
Now THAT is some good stuff. The Big10, this year, might be the worst BCS conference EVER.
ASU probably would have won the Big 10.
\
Not likely, since ASU could only beat one team with a winning record...ASU's record was puffed up with Weak schools.
I'm not touting ASU here, but Illinois just does not deserve to be in a BCS bowl, plain and simple. They will find that out when they play USC. Mizzou does.
ASU does not either.
