The Suns are down 0-2. “So what?”, may some people say and point towards what the Suns have accomplished so far this season. “They still can do it!”

No, they can’t.

The Spurs have beaten Phoenix in 4 out of 5 games – 4 of them in Phoenix while the only Suns’ win was against a Duncan-less San Antonio team.

What reasonable hope should there be for Suns fans to win 4 out of 5 – 3 of them in San Antonio – to move on to the NBA Finals?

None.

Let’s face it: Unless TD’s ankle sidelines him for the rest of the series or Kareem’s secretly born, raised and trained son dresses in purple to fulfill his very purpose to make up for that coin-flip all those years ago, sky-hooking the Suns into the Finals, the 2004/2005 season will very soon come to an end for Phoenix.

The remaining games against the Spurs will have meaning only for the record. Will it be 0-4, 1-4 or even 2-4, when you look back in the franchise history a few years from now?

It also might boost the player’s confidence if the get a win or two and face San Antonio next year or the year after.

So from my point of view I will just enjoy the last games this year. I will enjoy everything. Every move, every shot, every rebound… just to see this team and think of a great, great season.

I can’t kill the hope for a miracle but I won’t be swearing in front of my TV if we can’t stop Manu and Tony from penetrating.

I will silently say thank you.

Thank you Phoenix Suns for a fantastic season.
Thank you for scoring more than 110 points per game and being as entertaining as possible.
Thank you for winning a franchise-best 62 wins.
Thank you for winning the Pacific Division.
Thank you for proving all critics wrong about the efficiency of our offense in the postseason and that great series against the Mavs.
Thank you, Steve Nash for brining back the fastbreak, leading the league in assists, winning the Skill Challenge, being named All Star, for the fun at the Dunk Contest, for being named to the All NBA 1st Team, for winning the MVP, for the great series against the Mavs, ….
Thank you, Shawn Marion for showing us that the size of your heart is more important than the size of your body, for taking on the power forwards in the league, for finishing 3rd in rebounding and steals in the league, for being named All Star, for winning the Stars Shooting Challenge (thanks Dan and Diana), for being named to the All NBA 3rd team, for all the highlight dunks,…..
Thank you, Amare Stoudemire for giving the Suns a superstar and inside-player, for working on your jumpshot during the offseason, for the highlights, for the Dunk Contest, for finishing 5th in the league in scoring and 2nd in field goal percentage, for being named to the All NBA 2nd Team,…..
Thank you, Joe Johnson for finally doing what we all expected you to do when we first saw you and playing with consistency, for playing great defense, for finishing 2nd in the league in 3point-percentage, for being the x-factor against the Grizzlies, …..
Thank you, Quentin Richardson for all the threes, for winning the 3 Point Contest, for making Thunder smile when you broke his record, for the game winners, ….
Thank you, Jim Jackson for being the spark of the bench, for not just stepping up but for leading the team in the playoffs without Joe,…
Thank you, Steven Hunter for the energy, hustle and D….
Thank you, Paul Shirley for writing and being a good team guy….
Thank you, Jake Voskhul, Leandro Barbosa, Walter McCarthy, Yuta Tabuse, Casey Jacobsen and everbody else to be on the team…
Thank you, Mike D for letting the Suns play the way they played, for winning Coach of the Year honors,….
Thank you, Mr. Colangelo for bringing in Steve Nash and Jim Jackson, for winning the Excecutive of the Year award,…

And thank you everybody on the board for every interesting discussion about our Phoenix Suns, for every posted insider article, for sharing the fun.

This was the best season I remember. 1993 was great, but there was no internet, no NBA game DVD retailer, not as much fun as 2005.

Now I cannot wait for 2006. Hopefully we’ll see all the guys back and head for another exciting season.

GO SUNS!!!

good eulogy...but the patient isn't dead yet. it's coming, i know it's coming, but i hope they don't know that. i hope they fight like william wallace fought at the end of braveheart. i know that's what steve nash will do, and i don't want to give up on him just yet, even though it would probably make sense to do so. i haven't seen anybody do what he did this playoffs so far since MJ (that includes kobe/shaq).

This post is way premature.

Yeah, I don't give the Suns much chance but they started out 0-2 against the Lakers in '93 first round best of five.

Weird things happen - until the series is done, I ain't writing it off.

that was against a team that weas 39-43 - not a team that won 60 games. Kind of a big difference.

This is the time when this team needs to go full throttle right in the face of all doubters.

The Spurs are a very superb team, but I am not ready to give in just because Stephen A Smith told me I should

over.... did someone say over?....

Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!

What the *uck happened to the Arizonasportsfans.com I used to know? Where's the spirit? Where's the guts, huh? "Ooh, we're afraid to go with you King, we might get in trouble." Well just kiss my ass from now on! Not me! I'm not gonna take this. Robert Horry, he's a dead man! Manu Ginobli, dead! Tim Duncan...!--

Its okay to be optomistic and to not listen to Stephen A Hole Smith. However expecting to beat a team twice on the road where they have only lost 4 times with TD all season is asking for a miracle.

I'm hoping it happens but its more than likely not gonna happen

Just out of curiosity, how many home games had the Suns lost all season in 1993-94, when they ended up blowing the series to Houston after winning the first two games on the road?

Let's do to the Spurs what the Rockets did to us in '94.

I am SO SICK of how people have given up so quickly. Ouchie and Cheese are huge hardcore fans, but they gave up after game 1, just like they gave up in the Dallas series. That is so disheartening. It doesn't look good, but I'm going to wait until the guys lose their fourth game. And on the flip side, I'm not going to proclaim we're going to come back either.

The games don't end until one team loses 4 games. Regardless of how hard it will be for us, I'm going to wait, because there's still at least 2 more games of watching my favorite team play.

You wanna proclaim "realism"? Fine, but is it really worth making every post be, "The Suns are done. Over. I'm just being a realist." We get the point! No need to do it EVERY SINGLE TIME. I'd rather see "DB" over and over again, frankly.

That was the worst series ever. That one killed me even more than losing to the bulls. ____________ Mario Elie!

was there really a reason to bring us into this - neither of us even commented on this thread? oh wait - yeah we did.

And I never gave up on the Dallas series - I said win it in 7 over and over again.

It's the learning year - been syaing it all season long - no one wanted to hear it but it's the truth.

Would love to see us win Game 3 - got some kind of feeling that we can - but I wouldn't bet on it.

oh - and Chap:

DBDBDBDBDBDBDBDBDBDBDBDBDBDBDBDBDBDBDBDBDBDBDBDBDBDBDBDBDB

is that better? You got the reality and DB all in one!

Some people like to beat the drum of realism so they can excuse not getting emotionally involved. It is much easier to say it's over than have a little faith. Less room for heartbreak.

We are emotionally involved hell maybe more than others.

I'm hoping for the best in this series but preparing for the worst. I don't want this season to end

This team has shown heart and a never die attitude. I'm not giving up until is over... Both of these games were close, so why can't we win in San Antonio?

the one reason why a lot has given up already is because, both games so far has been on our favour and the spurs won by stepping up at the end.

its like the suns fight and play well, then at the fourth.... Popovich just tells his guys, "okay, warm up is done, finish them"... and they do. (did)

Again, D'Antoni just cannot hope and rely on spurs having a bad game or shooting night and just simply tells the suns to "keep going".

he needs to start doing some defensive assignments/adjustment in the 4th quarter and get those stops.
