Signed to the Bears' active roster per Somers' blog update.

Russ Grimm is doing an excellent job identifying players and developing them to give this team a solid foundation for the future. :mulli:

Yeah, too bad we are going to lose him as he is the number one candidate to get the Carolina job after they fire John Fox.:bang:

Can anyone really believe that!!!!!

Herman Johnson just went from the worst team in the league to one of the best(this season). I'm sure he's hating this.

Lost in this is that we now have an ENORMOUS (pun intended) hole in our lineup if Deuce Lutui decides to leave in free agency and we don't bring Alan Faneca back.

Hadnot can play one of the guard positions. And any decent NFL team should be able to draft a serviceable RG.

Off all positions that one SHOULD be able to be filled.

Levi's rookie deal is winding up, Deuce and Lyle are on 2nd round tenders after SB/ Playoff run, Fans blame them when were passing 70% of the time over 3 years,

Bridges has 2 years and Hadnot has 3 years under contract. Keith is broken. What exactly does this coaching staff value in players?

make fun of my grades all you want!

Whiz will again say,
Blink, Blink, calculated response
I don't have a feel for this team yet. ( like I did right before I cut Matt)
Fans discomfort has moved on to indifference.

He was signed off of the practice squad for craps sake! Who is thinking that this guy was the key to success for the team?

Give me a break, guys are signed all of the time from other team's practice squad - was this guys the next all-pro or just looking for ANYTHING to berate the decision makers?

Stupid thread...

Maybe we can convince Carolina to let us have Fox if they sign Grimm.

You are right that Deuce is no a pass blocking OG.

Sendlein should not even be starting for us, he is another "blown off the ball" guy.

I am happy with Bridges.

Haven't seen Hadnot play yet.

And I still believe in Keith.

As for Johnson ? Who cares.

I don't see any of the posts ahead of yours berating the decision makers other than saying that they drafted him and couldn't develop him. Grimm is supposed to be some kind of offensive line guru and he's proven to be anything but. Where's the untruth in that? More specifically, this staff has drafted a total of 4 offensive linemen in 4 drafts. Here's how they made out:

Levi Brown-horrible/bust of a 1st round pick
Brandon Keith-Couldn't block a statue
Herman Johnson-gone
Trevor Canfield-gone

Johnson is just another cherry on the sundae of the ineptitude of these decision makers you speak about.

There are a couple of things that I'll say about this.

1) Do you think that a franchise can continue to lose draft choices or abandon them and be successful? The secret to success for NFL franchises is to hold onto their top draft choices who have developed and let the mid-round guys become the "belly" of the team. Instead of a third-year minimum salary in Herman Johnson, the Cards are going to have to spend money on a veteran free agent to fill what will likely be a starter's vacancy on the offensive line.

2) Brandon Keith was our starter at right tackle in his third season. Herman Johnson would have been entering his third season of development. It wouldn't be premature to say that he would/should at least be competing for a starting job next offseason.

3) Of the 2008 draft class, we have Beanie Wells, who can't get off the bench, Cody Brown, who is off the team, Rashard Johnson, who is a sub-package player and special teamer, Toler, Johnson (now gone), Will Davis (IR, but a good sub), LSH, and Trevor Canfield (gone). People wonder why this team has been bad.

Where did I say that the guy was an All-pro? Good teams aren't built around All-pros and a bunch of scrubs, they're built around developing your drafted players into solid starters or above-average depth and not having to dip into the second-tier free agency for the Paris Lenons of the NFL.

It seems like we're going to have to re-build the offensive line AGAIN this offseason. We've just lost another player who already knows the system and has been developing for over a year and a half.

Everyone is so focused on the QB situation, that the terrible season the oline is having is sliding under the radar. With the QB situation, at least it takes only one good personnel decision to improve it. With the oline, we are going to have to make probably 3 or 4 personnel decisions to get it right for next year. When you have a guy like Grimm, who thought Levi Brown was better than Joe Thomas, having major input into those decisions....... not good.
