Frye is so damn SOFT!
I swear, if this team takes Laurie I will throw my shoe through my TV. He's the same player.
Frye killed us because he was unclutch more than soft... IIRC he shot 1 of 20 on 3's in a WCF against the Lakers. He also faded out in a stretch run another year. In one game in that run the Lakers totally ignored Frye at the arc and packed the middle on us to win the game.
We are among the worst teams shooting from 3, and we don't make up for it by being extra good from two or taking extra good care of the ball. Lauri figures to give a real boost on 3s and he's also accurate from midrange, which Frye wasn't. A better rebounder than Channing as well. Better three point shooting also loosens up the interior defense which we could well use. In Ulis, we already have a better playmaker than any of the PG's we might draft so I wouldn't be upset about it if McD took Markkanen at #4. In many people's opinion that would be a reach, but they are just opinions and subject to 'group think' - rather prone to it, I'd say, in this context.
You can afford another TV, I'm sure...
