A reporter working the sideline during the game said he apparently added 7 lbs of muscle this summer and that he said he feels much more stronger and has more confidence in the paint now.

That is EXACTLY what Josh Jackson should’ve been doing. Instead Jackson looks like he did not work on his game all that much and physically looks the same or perhaps smaller than he did last season.

Following him on social media, it was disappointing to see him spend nearly all of summer after summe league doing world traveling rather than working on his game.
Jackson said he also added 7 pounds of muscle this offseason.

JJ has a lot of aspects to work on... I don't really think his fitness is one of them.

You should read the JJ journal on The Undefeated. There are links in the Jackson thread here. He did put on weight. His goal was initially 10 pounds but he said he put on 7. He wanted to put it on the right way so he could maintain it throughout the season. I'm surprised he hadn't talked of that on social media because I heard him talk about it almost every time I heard him speak this offseason.

The Warriors got their rings last night, at the opener vs OKC. Damn shame Westbrook didn't play. I imagine that game was scheduled that way for a reason. The sort of subplot of Westbrook watching Durant get a championship ring had to have been on the league's mind when they scheduled that game. I still want to see Westbrook vs the Warriors in the playoffs. I can only imagine the gaudy numbers that Westbrook would put up trying to knock the Warriors out.

The Warriors posted a short video on their ring design on their Twitter account. It's a reversible ring, which is what caused me to look into it more. I couldn't figure out how they would make a ring like that but it's pretty neat.

Uhh... I don't want to pop off too much, but the person questioning JJ's physique, from what I've seen, is a bit prone to knee jerk reactions.

I recall him posting during the summer league that Ayton was out of shape because the images of him during warm ups didn't match up against the well distributed photo of him flexing and screaming after a dunk at Arizona.

I thought it was odd that someone would mention JJ should gain the exact amount of weight that he did. I read the post 3 times because initially I thought he was referring to Tatum. I knew JJ gained weight, the right way, and he also worked on his game quite a bit. Everything I saw and read about Jackson didn't seem to line up with what he was saying.

I remember that Ayton talk. He did look less like a greek god during summer league but he was still in better shape than every poster on this board and was probably in better shape than the majority of players on our summer league team. He does look better now that the season is getting ready to start so that was a total non-issue. I couldn't remember who started the Ayton stuff during Summer League but there are always some people saying that certain players should be in better shape.

It might have been me? I know to me he didn't seem as chiseled as he had during the college basketball season. I didn't have a problem with it but I also thought he wore down a little quicker than I'm used to seeing. He's looked so much better, game-wise, and physique-wise in the preseason IMO.

Can't even get through the first half of the first game without Iggy getting hurt again. Such a huge part of the Warriors rotation they said it was a calf tightness or something similar but it just seems like no matter what he does, he ends up with these sorts of things. He'll be 35 in January so he's not young but he's not someone they can really afford to lose, hopefully this isn't a sign of an injury plagued year for him.

Pelicans are looking really good against the Rockets so far. Davis, Mirotic, and Randle look like a really good big men trio. 27 points between them in the first quarter.

Remember when the wise minds on this board said that Bender for Randle was a non-starter for the Suns? Hint: It was less than a year ago.

I still think we could get a good haul for Bender...

We just need McDonough to get a GM job on another NBA team... and possibly suffer a major brain trauma.

I thought it was you who suggested that? :D

And yes, I do remember. I thought "Hm, I said I wouldn't trade bender for this guy last year" while watching the first quarter.

That's okay, he wouldn't fit with Ayton anyway. It's not like he's teammates with Anthony Davis now or anything.

Just in case I wasn't clear, I was making a joke. You know I hold your opinion in high regard.

Yes, thank you, and you weren't the only one who rejected Bender for Randle outright (not that any such offer was ever a possibility, probably). I remember at least one other who was even more emphatic.

Okay, to be fair, it turns out that what I suggested was Bender plus the Suns' 2019 pick with top-nine protection. So that is a steeper price than Bender alone, by a lot. And, with Ayton now in the fold, possibly not the right move for the Suns even if it were a possibility now.

The Pelicans are up 71-54 on the Rockets at the half.

I don't want to read too much into this and act like an insufferable homer...

But Anderson and Ariza were CLEARLY the key to that Rockets team last year! :)

The Rockets got desperate this summer, they've been a team all about efficiency and shot selection, they brought in some of the worst dudes in the league in those areas.

Anthony is a tremendously gifted offensive player... who I don't think has ever been a "plus" impact player other than maybe his first 3-4 years when he actually hustled.

I thought Chriss was their starting PF. According to the box score, he didn’t even play.
