I'm not fond of much of what Butler does (other than his actual game) but that's a downright steal.

If he shows up motivated and plays defense the Sixers will be a threat. The Eastern Conference playoffs will be exciting for once with BOS, TOR, PHI and MIL.

Poor Markel Fultz. His shot will be analyzed for the rest of his career. The kid seems like he gets it together for a little bit and then something like this happens where everyone is reminded how close to broken he is.

let's trade Canaan and spare parts for Fultz
and hire a hypnotist to work on him and JJ at the same time
(we'd have last year's #1 and #4 pick, for whatever that's worth now)

Yeah, it's the kind of trade that might drive a few other teams to make moves.

The Sixers are trading forwards Robert Covington and Dario Saric, guard Jerryd Bayless, and a 2020 second-round pick for Butler and forward Justin Patton, sources said.
I actually think they pretty good return. Covington is a solid player and saric is a younger player who has established game and might have upside. They got two starters for butler.

Fultz would mess up Jackson's shot even further.

The East has slowly built itself up over the last couple years to be pretty solid, finally.

Everyone is still WAYYYYYYYY behind GS, but the East has a lot of good young stars again.

I won't say Minnesota won the trade, but they are in pretty good shape after that trade. That likely starting lineup is solid and they now have better spacing. This should also put the ball in Town hands more often as well and with the added spacing he might be more effective.

Yeah he's obviously much better this year than last year but it's just as obvious last year wasn't just injury there's something seriously Steve Sax wrong with his shooting form. For a guy who was such a good shooter in college.

I tend to judge trades by who got the best player. That said, I think the Wolves did alright here. They didn't win this trade, but they weren't gonna win any trade at this point. They got two decent players that fit pretty well.

I took a vacation in 83 or 84 with my wife and another couple, we went to a bunch of Angels games and then the Angels left town so we made the drive to see a Dodgers game too. I wasn't a fan of either team but I bought a Cubs hat at the stadium just for fun. Understandably I took an awful lot of abuse early in the game for that decision. But after Sax tried to throw the ball about 15 feet to first base and it sailed more than 30 feet over the first baseman, diehard Dodgers fans took turns wearing my Cubs cap for the rest of the afternoon as it was passed around our section. Most fun I've ever had at a ballpark. Steve eventually got it together but I don't know if we'll see a Sax like turnaround for Fultz?

Yup I tend to agree but I’m not talking about who won. Just the fact the wolves got better value than I expected.

Anybody else read that LBJ called in a favor to James Jones to expedite the buyout of Chandler to get him on the Lakers?

If that's the case, I don't want Jones as the GM.

The report surface Friday afternoon so it wasn’t really a huge headline. I’d imagine Jones will have to address it Monday.

I'm surprised Philly got Butler for that little. I think the Suns could have put together a better offer. Warren, JJ, and the Bucks pick? Saric, Covington, Bayless, and a 2nd round pick seems like the Sixers didn't part with much. They didn't even include a 1st round pick.

Maybe the Wolves will deal Tyus Jones now? They don't need him since Rose has been playing out of his mind, Jeff Teague is also there, and now they're bringing in Bayless.

I'd rather have Saric and Covington.

Plus it would be ******** to bring Butler to this squad. He'd go crazy.

Then let him go crazy. If it doesn't work at least we went for the star that was available. There would be enough time to work another deal also. He would need to wait 60 days to be dealt again, if he's traded with other players, which would allow the Suns to move him before the trade deadline. Go for Houston's offer of 4 1st rounders, this year, 2021, 2023, and 2025. Those 2 later picks could be good, if they're unprotected then they would be good trade chips if nothing else. Getting those extra picks from the Nets is what allowed Ainge to start this rebuild the Celtics have done. When you have 2 1st round picks every year, you have lots of options.

I hate the idea of asking a 22 year old what he thinks but I would have discussed it with Booker. If he had been in favor of it, I would have tested the waters. But no way would I bring him into this locker room without buy-in from at least Devin.

I didn't want Jones as GM before this or before signing his buddy Jamal Crawford when no one else wanted that rotting corpse. dude's got no business running basketball operations for this team, but he's dirt cheap and will do whatever Sarver wants, so I'm guessing he gets a five year contract by the 1st of the year.

Maybe the Suns can pick up more of the Rockets scraps if they part ways with Melo.

Apparently the Rockets brass will be meeting with Anthony to discuss their relationship going forward. He's been awful in Houston, which should be a surprise to no one. I'm a little surprised that he never came off the bench in any game prior to this season. I know he's always been adamant that he's a starter but he's suffered a number of injuries throughout his career and I thought he might have been eased back onto his team at that time. He played 1054 games prior to the start of this season and started in each one.

I think most people realized Melo wasn't a good fit in Houston. He clashed with D'Antoni in New York before and now he doesn't have the skill to sort of make up for his attitude. What I found interesting is the Rocket went from leading the league in scoring last season to being 26th after their first 10 games of the year.

Just to be clear, I don't want Melo on the Suns. I don't care if it were a league minimum deal. He can go ruin another team. Maybe the Warriors can sign him so they implode.
