Lol.. we won eight games last year with arguably the best offensive player in the National Football League sitting on our sideline.

You silly gooses.
Go back and rewatch last season. This team won 8 games with smoke and mirrors. Inconsistent would be an understatement. The Bucs game was a microcosm of the season. We went ahead 31-0 and the Bucs lost their starting QB and we still struggled to win that game. We got pounded by the Rams, twice, struggled to beat SF twice, and lost to the Texans while making Tom Savage look like Peyton Manning. On the flip side we beat JAX and Tennessee, 2 playoff teams.

Maybe skating by on one game for a victory could be consider smoke and mirrors but to state a whole season of getting to 8-8 is smoke/mirrors in the pros is a load diddly crap... this team was inconsistent which usually happens when you are adjusting to injuries but nobody was 'tricking' anyone and your record is what you are

Re-read what I posted and dispute one thing I said. Everything I said was fact. This team winning 8 games last year was an enigma. They played horribly most of the season. Barely beating the Colts. Barely beating SF twice. Barely beating TB. Beating a Giants team that mailed the season in weeks before. But losing terribly to LA twice, getting pasted by Philly, losing to a QB who has no business in the NFL then giving games away against Dallas, Seattle, Washington then somehow beating playoff teams like JAX anf Tennessee(in a game where we failed to score a TD) and winning games with Blaine Gabbert at QB and throw in all the injuries is the epitome of winning games with smoke and mirrors.

Cardinals’ Wilks, Rosen discuss biggest takeaways of OTAs, patience
TEMPE, Ariz — “Details” was the word of the day for Arizona Cardinals as they wrapped up their final day of OTAs on Thursday.

“It was great, a lot of energy out there, you saw guys, in my mind, really focusing on the details, the things we talk about all the time,” Cardinals head coach Steve Wilks told reporters. “Again, a long way away, but we’re always moving in the right direction, we can really continue to emphasize the little things and the details.”

Cardinals rookie quarterback Josh Rosen echoed Wilks comments when asked about his biggest takeaways from OTAs.

Arizona Cardinals running back David Johnson misses practice time with undisclosed injury
Running back David Johnson has missed practice time this week with an injury the Cardinals aren’t disclosing.

Johnson watched voluntary practice on Thursday, but no injury was readily apparent.

“It’s the offseason, and I’m not going to really indulge in injuries or things like that,” coach Steve Wilks said when asked why Johnson wasn't practicing. “We’re going to talk about the guys that are out there.”

Smoke and mirrors is deception, disguising your weaknesses and being innovative in doing so. Arians ran the ball more but the run plays where not a formation that was not standard for the most part and you do not get more basic than running the ball and Arians did not change his approach, running the same offense and his stubborn adherence to his offense which many accused as being outdated did not change and the opposing defenses knew what was coming. Bettcher improved some in adjustments but still left a lot to be desired and ran the same defense (even implementing more zone and a soft secondary to combat the lack of talent or experience opposite of Peterson, but the defense became better when he simplified the approach according to the players' request, pretty basic) and did not disguise much of what he always had done and kept the defense the same after the opposing offense would adjust after the half. Arians proved one thing, as a coach he had great leadership skill because he did not lose the team and his devotion to his old school offense for better or worse, was one constant in face of all the adjustments to injury which held the team together... games this team won, this team won on grit and heart
