The dude is a sick athlete, but just how good of a basketball player is he? We probably won't have any good idea until he is in the NBA.Good lord

Just casually, not in the heat of a game, and not even like he is trying that hard. How in the world do you launch that much bulk into the air like that?Good lord
Why not? Look at the way he handles the ball, how he shoots, whether he plays D, switches without getting confused. He plays for Duke. We should be able to see whether he can do that or not. The athleticism is not a worry. The dude is a sick athlete, but just how good of a basketball player is he? We probably won't have any good idea until he is in the NBA.

The reason I suggested we won't know until the NBA is because he is going to have a ridiculous advantage from a size/athleticism standpoint in college. He won't have nearly as much of an advantage at the NBA level. LeBron for instance wouldn't be so great if he didn't have elite BBIQ and skills. Why not? Yes. I understand. But that is only for the numbers guys who do not actually watch games. Skills should be observable. The reason I suggested we won't know until the NBA is because he is going to have a ridiculous advantage from a size/athleticism standpoint in college. Will Zion be a Barkley type of talent or an Anthony Bennett? Being at Duke is encouraging because he'll have real coaching and Coach K doesn't typically just propel players to the NBA for their own good unless they can help him in the meantime. If he was at a smaller school with a lesser known coach though I would worry. I would still be leery of using the #1 overall pick on him or tanking for him but anything past #1? Grab him and pray he pans out.
There are 2 intriguing PG prospects, Ja Morant of Murray State & Ky Bowman of BC. Both are skilled in that they can score, pass and rebound (Morant had a triple double last year and Bowman was one assist shy of one against Duke last year). Bowman is still learning to play PG as he is more of a combo guard and is currently projected as a 2nd rounder but could move into first round with a strong JR year. Morant is more NBA ready in terms of playing the position as he is a natural PG. His defense is not yet on the same level as his offensive game but as he gets stronger it should improve. Morant will probably end up late lottery to mid first round so the MIL pick if it conveys could help PHX land him.
Is Morant really any better of a prospect than Okobo? Is Bowman really any better of a prospect than Melton? We need a capable veteran point guard, not yet another project.
Then WHY in God’s name are you pushing so hard for a 2-way??!Is Morant really any better of a prospect than Okobo? Is Bowman really any better of a prospect than Melton? We need a capable veteran point guard, not yet another project.

Lol, a “promising prospect” isn’t going to be signed on a 2-way. Still not sure why you’re pushing that narrative when other posters have pretty much demonstrated that you don’t know what a 2-way contract really is.Not for a point guard. For a power forward, where we are remarkably thin and really don't even have a promising prospect.

I’d ask for your suggestions at the position, but you’ll just come back with 3 guys worse than Bender. What I do know is that it is a spot where we can commit a preferred player who is out there, and all we have at the position right now are Ryan Anderson and Dragan Bender. But by all means, let's just stick to the same old losing formula of not using all means available to fill our gaping holes...

That’s funny considering your past posts about the PGs.I don't think it's possible to be worse than Bender at this point.

“I’ll never forget this story. My second day of practice we’re out there running up and down. Charles Barkley comes in about 5-minutes late. He comes in and he has a big McDonald’s bag. And he goes and he sits down on the bike. And like a chemist. You know, a guy over there cutting up lines or something. You know? He’s just making – he’s got his back towards us and he’s doing stuff — I’m like, ‘What the hell is he doing?’ So, he takes the eggs, and he takes the pancakes, the sausage, maple syrup and butter, puts it all in one, wraps it up with the pancake and gets some extra syrup. And the butter’s oozing out. And I’m going, ‘Wow, you going to eat that then and come run with us?’ Hell no. He’s going to eat that while he’s on the stationary bike. Peddling one mile an hour going … ‘Run the floor!’ … ‘That’s why we ain’t never going to win the game!’ And pancake is spitting out his mouth.”
We need to go after Mirotic. He can play both pf and center. He can start at pf but also play back up center.Suns will need a back up Center next year. When Ayton is out this team has no defense.
