but to use this video as evidence of how he will do in games, good or bad....is pretty laughable. He obviously wasnt putting in much effort in terms of scoring or defense. It seemed he was mostly trying to run up and down the court to improve his stamnia and shape, while also getting some passing practice. I
Yea, it is pretty obvious Amare isnt trying to mix things up in there. He just needs the atmosphere to build endurance & strngth in the knees.

On a second note Amare Lampe & Sato all stood out over the rest. I hope they all make the team...

He just looked exhausted to me, I'll hold off judgement as whether or not to be disappointed after he has time to get into game shape.

Amare as mentioned has 3/4 months to get ready...how can anyone think he would be looking his best right now? He would be considered not human If he was.

Here's a very recent video of Amare playing, and I don't know what to say, I fell into a deep depression watching it. I have crushing, legitimate fears that he's never going to be the same Amare. He's a shell. A freaking shell. At about the 9:00 mark, he gets the ball in the high post and tries to drive, but the speed just isn't there. He gets shut down almost instantly by some no-name and lamely passes his way out of trouble. Bo Jackson, anyone? God I'm depressed.

I guess you can ascribe any doom and gloom scenario to what you saw in that video but here are my opinions on it. First of all, Amare didn't have his game face on, he was scrimmaging and was only going about half speed. second of all, about 30 seconds after getting "stopped by a nobody" he went to the basket hard and dunked. Third of all, I saw Amare running the offense from the top of the key, passing, getting rebounds and generally moving well. I guess a guy has to dominate practice so we can all feel warm and fuzzy. Frankly, Amare is going to return to full speed, he may not be there when camp starts in the fall, he may even take a couple of months during the regular season to get there but he will get there.

By watching the video, a guy that DIDN'T look good was Chalmers. He couldn't stay in front of anytbody on defense. There were a couple of guys in black that looked good stroking the ball, but didn't know who they were.

the johnsen kid had a nice dunk.too

Britton Johnson out of the university of utah. He is a pretty athletic kid that can shoot from the outside. It would be fun to see a good kid like him make the suns, he could definately spread the defense with his outside shot. Not sure if he is good enough to stay on an NBA team though.

EDIT: I am from SLC so I watched this kid in college.

My take was that chalmers was there to make sure that Sato gets meaningful touches, doesnt get frozen out of the offense.

About three weeks ago, the Suns training staff declared Amare the most flexible guy on the team. What's probably happened is a decline in fast-twitch muscle fiber from lack of brisk activity and too much slow-paced cardio exercises. The only way he's going to get that back is sprinting/lifting along with some Russian Olympic-style plyometrics, but he can't do that until his body's ready for extreme shock.

The reason amare is playing in the summer league is that he's not back ... yet. It is a good way for him to come back slowly, get in shape. Amare needs physical rehabilitation from inactivity, just like if he broke his leg. He has muscle atrophy, weak under used muscles. DAntoni would never let Amare play in the summer league if he was back, it would risk injury unnecessarily. I suspect that amare is playing tentatively trying to avoid a setback. As he gets into better shape, he will push himself more without as much risk of injury. 3 months is a good amount of time time to rehab. I'll be watching his rehab more closely in september, when he's had a chance to rehab some. Watching him now and forecasting doom is a rediculous exercise in futility. EVERY NBA player coming back from inactivity will look slow and ineffective at the beginning of rehab. I suspect this is why KT didnt play against the Mavs in the WCF, he was probably out of shape and couldnt keep anyone in front of him.

Anyon else think Britton Johnsen would fit in nicely with this team?

He can run for a guy thats 6'10 and he has a nice stroke.

His biggest problem will be his strength though, cause he really needs to add some weight.

Him,Lampe and Massimo Bulleri stood out in that video.

And i wouldnt worry about Amare, Phil Weber said that they told Amare to only give it his all for 2mins out there, and the rest of the time he was just coasting to get some cardio in and get back into basketball shape.

I love how people are freaking out on Amare but are super duper impressed with a proven loser like Lampe from a summer league practice video. Aside from Amare all these guys are hacks if they were not they would'nt be in the summer league.

Trust me Lampe will see zero time with this team, probably the most selfish hack I have ever seen.

a summer league video to guage regular season success, lol, what a bunch of losers.

Wow was that really necessary? They were just giving their opinions on what they thought Amare looked like.

And Lampe is still 21years old

He came over as a 18year old, and is still learning the game.

He would be the youngest guy on the Suns.

I think there is a hellva lot of potential in Lampe, and hopefully D'Antoni,Weber and Ivaroni can help him realize it.

Hes worth the risk since we have open roster spots.

I thought Johnson looked good in the video. He was really active. Bulleri had some good minutes, but does not look very big. He must know how to play a little though if he played on D'Antoni's 2 championship teams.

Lampe is big and is a shooter, and quite often hurries too much to do something. Time will tell if he ever learns how to play. He does not have too much time to make the Suns team. But I give him a chance because he is big and can shoot.

Treesquid, that's the first post I've deleted in an awfully long time. You could have easily made your point without the last line.

You've deleted my post as well which is fine, but Tree needs to know what people think of his posts and attitude. I'm sick of it, and you guys need to do something about it. I'm starting to see why Yumma and Eric left.

He just did something about it and issued a public warning. You can put Tree in your ignore list and never have to worry about him again.

I just did something about it. Besides, Yuma and Eric left because of over moderation. They left for the exact opposite reason. Put him on your ignore list.

No matter where you are carey, someone will just rub you the wrong way, its bound to happen. When that situation is allowed to escalate it can get nasty. The situation was moderated, but that was only necessary because treesquid successfully baited you. Next time, dont let someone else treat you like a fish, ignore them, thats what they deserve.

As far as what people think about tree's posts, I'll bet he already knows.
