I couldn't possibly care less what that DB has to say about it.

Haters gonna hate.

There are some pundits that will forever talk trash about the Cards. Usually it was because they DIDN'T pay. Now it's cause they did.

Screw them ... and their jealousy. :)

Then let us be fools forever. I

I hear you brother. Fitz is more than just a WR. He is the brand. He's our Swoosh! Our Apple. Our Golden Arches.

BTW: I wasn't far off earlier when I wrote about introducing Fitz as the new 25% owner of the franchise. :)

The owners locked out the players because the existing model doesn't work financialy for them. Then they apparently gave the players most of what they wanted in negotiations. One of the tightest and bullhesded owners (Panthers) spends a ton of money when the new CBA is ratified. All this tells me that the owners know that the revenues are going to explode for the NFL and the Fitz contract while not being considered cheap won't be a back breaker for the Cards.

I can't find the post where I predicted that Fitz would get this kind of money so if someone with better search skills then I (monkey with a crowbar for example) would post that for me I'd appreciate it.

Even if the Fitz contract turns out to be everything the naysayers are writing about it's still worth it for the Cards.

+1

Larry Fitzgerald signs $XX million dollar contract for 5,6,7 years.

Sounds good to me. The guy is worth every penny, IMO. He does a lot for this franchise, and is more valuable than a normal WR, IMO. For PR reasons, etc., etc.

Mike Freeman ?

On most teams the 2nd most important and 2nd highest offensive paid player is usually the LT, if they're good.

We cant win. We get chastised for being cheap. Now we get chastised for overpaying.

Sheesh.....

I dont think this clown realizes that if he hit the open market, he would have made AT LEAST this much, probably more. I would imagine at least 5 teams would auction for his services and Eugene Parker would continue to drive the price up.

Freeman could have saved this article and deleted "Arizona Cardinals" and replaced it with the team that would have signed him in 2012 had we not re-signed him.

Cards made the right decision by "overpaying." Yet, another example that the culture of this organization is changing and the "SOC" is long gone.

Now go get us that ring!

What they don't seem to realize is Fitz was already making 10 mil a year and this only adds 5 mil to the cap numbers. Of course it all depends on how they structure the contract but I'm talking about averages here.

It's tough to judge an 8 yr contract on the day it's signed. In 5 years, $15 million/per for an elite receiver could look like a bargain.

Looking at other teams forums and it seems like the consensus is that it's a ton of money but it was probably worth it. They even mention with new rookie scaling it means more for vets for exactly this type of deal.

Minnesota fans all think the Cards are stupid though. I really liked this quote from a Vikings fan.

Fitz would have signed here for cheaper... Thats the price a team like Arizona has to pay to keep its best player.

lol Vikings fans have no room to talk.

Everyone who's been to a Superbowl in the last 30 years please step forward... Wait, not so fast Viking fans.

We dont have a great history, but people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.
