you know... it crosses my mind they should hold a pro bowl in alaska...they dont have a team up there anywhere so many of the locals may have never seen a pro game live...
granted, the biggest stadium up there only seats about 6k people... but we all know the profit is from advertising, not tickets and beer....aint a lot of people there, hell, they may not even sell out a tiny stadium... but it would be cool and it would give the players opportunity for different experiences as well... maybe dogsledding instead of para sailing

GREAT IDEA! If the Pro Bowl was played in July, the same week the HOF game is held!

oh I forgot... todays players cant play in bad weather....

Which is funny because the CFL played the Grey Cup during a snowfall this year.
There is a major difference between a snowfall in November and frozen solid turf in early February. It's the reason the CFL season ends in November and not January or February!
"Bad weather games" when it is hovering around the freezing point (0°C) or above can be fun; especially mud or snowfall games. But playing when the ground is frozen solid and the temperatures are at 0°F or worse, is not only not fun, it hurts!

If you believe the Pro Bowl opt out rate is high now, think what it would be if the game were in Alaska in February!

I beg to differ. One of the most classic games of all time was the Ice Bowl in Green Bay. -15° and the field was like a hockey rink.

The NFL has enough problems getting players to show up. Sending them to the frozen tundra ain’t gonna help.

All should get in

Unpopular opinion alert: Fitz doesn't deserve to go.

8th in yards, T24 in TDs, only Golden Tate has fewer YPC than Fitz in the Top 25 WRs. 24th in DYAR, 37th in DVOA (if you care about advanced stats).

I agree Fitz is getting votes on name not on the year he's been having. He's one of those guys who gets votes because people see his name and automatically vote for him. Mathieu shouldn't even be sniffing the top 25.

But, he's 1st in the NFC in catches, 3rd in yards, and as always, near the top in catch rate, while having lousy QBs for much of the season.

Aside from Julio Jones and Adam Thielen, who else in the NFC deserves to go ahead of him?

They don’t do conferences anymore, so I’d also rather have AJ Green, Antonio Brown, Deandre Hopkins, and Tyreek Hill.

Have you ever been to Canada ? I grew up there. You could have 65-70 degrees the end of October or you could have completely frozen ground and about 28 degrees. If it snowed, it was cold. Period.
0 degrees means nothing. If the ground is frozen, it's frozen, it doesn't get harder because the temp dropped 10 more degrees.

A football classic, yes and I loved it! A well played game - NO!

There is most certainly a difference between a surface freeze and a deep freeze.
At the onset of winter temperature of 28 degrees will cause the ground to freeze, but the initial freeze is only a surface freeze (say 1/8 to 1/4 inch deep), the ground under the surface still being "soft" and unfrozen. Following extreme cold or extended cold the ground will become frozen to a depth of typically 3-4 feet deep. This is when landing upon it feels like hitting concrete. When only the surface is frozen there is still some give or cushion to the ground underneath. The difference lower temperatures make is that the sub-surface ground will reach the freezing point more quickly. So either extreme temperatures below freezing or extended periods below freezing will cause the ground to become "frozen solid".

Think about the liquid nitrogen demonstrations you likely saw, perhaps in high school science. Compare the reaction of something frozen in liquid nitrogen vs being frozen for a few minutes at roughly 28 degrees - not the same at all!
