I think Ayton should be ranked higher.
He's difficult to rank IMO. Sometimes he looks like a top 15 player, sometimes you don't even know he's in the game. And he's also missed a lot of games during his short career. So for me, somewhere in the top 50 is appropriate for him and is nothing to be ashamed of for a 23 old big man in a game that no longer centers around the big men.

Certainly nothing that should be given away for free or for a pittance.

Simmons did a trade a top-64 trade value rankings and DA snuck in at 62, Mikal is at 44 and Booker 11. Just some mindless fun if you want to listen it’s on The Ringer.

45th? 62 in trade value?
according to Ayton himself a couple of months ago, "he's the best!"
(we must assume he was talking about the center position. and when i posted my concern about in this thread, many posters argued that he wasn't that far off)

Yeah and I'd say that even if he were a finished product. Some young men his age are done improving, I really doubt that's the case for him.

I wonder if the Suns would really trade Ayton for a Trade Exception.

I’ve started wondering if this is what they might try to do… trade Ayton for a pick and a trade exemption and then use that trade exemption to try and fill a spot with someone.

It would leave a lot of flustered fans, especially initially.

If the Suns could acquire multiple first round picks and then use the TPE on a player(s) they want, it would help take the sting out of it.

I wonder if the TPE would be for the amount the other team pays Ayton in the first year of the sign-and-trade.

This team has peaked. Need KD or another superstar for any hope at a championship. I hope Jones knows what he's doing.

This would mean Ayton is good enough to be a #2 on about half the teams in the league.
Yes it would. And it would also mean giving him up for any of the returns we've heard mentioned is a really bad idea.

I know that the FO guys know a lot that we don't but I'm really struggling to understand why we're in this position. All I can do is hope that we're reading it the wrong way, that the silence doesn't mean the rumors are true and that we really do know what we're doing.
